OT: Official 2021 Tompa Bay Gronkaneers Thread

I'm talking more about SB contending teams that don't use their top picks to draft a player that can help them win now. A legit good team can make many backup QB look workable for a few games. Colt McCoy did fine today. So they don't have to waist a top draft pick on a backup QB to sit for 2 or 3 years.

I didn't even like the Bucs 2nd round pick on Trask as Gabbert is adequate if needed. Bucs could have really used a 2nd round corner back.
With regards to this, I look at Trask differently than how I viewed BB drafting JAG. Brady himself has been more inclined to talk about retirement being something that could happen soon, and the Bucs were mostly loaded in terms of personnel.

And the Packers did well by drafting Rodgers in round one and bringing him along slowly, so I can't really pound them for trying for a repeat. Where I think the Packers merit criticism is their approach to free agents.

The Saints losing was huge. Even if Winston was returning next week, it was probably a blow that all but killed the team's chances as the division title.

Saints:

Titans
Eagles
Bills
Cowboys

Jets
Bucs
Dolphins
Panthers
Falcons

Bucs:

Redskins
Giants
Colts
Falcons
Bills
Saints

Panthers
Jets
Panthers

Looking at that schedule, it seems that the Saints need to sweep the Bucs to have a chance. And even that would likely still leave them as a long shot.
Atlanta was blowing them out before the roughing the passer calls started again. I really believe Siemian is so awful and not in control of his body that he makes defenders foul him because he is so putrid. The Saints will struggle to win any games with him.

I do not see 2 more losses on the Rams schedule.

4 games they can lose, IMO and maybe 5 if Wilson gets back in time

Titans (too soon to write that team off without Henry, though I definitely have the Rams winning
@Packers
@Cardinals
@Ravens

Going to just 1 playoff bye was such a garbage move. Honestly at this point just expand the playoffs again and have no byes because it’s dumb as hell for only one team to get it.

I don’t think more than two, but I also think they’re not likely to only lose one more game, as they play Titans, at Packers, at Cardinals, Seahawks, at Vikings, and at Ravens. And two games against the 49ers, who aren’t a certain win either. I’m guessing they finish 14-3; I’d be more shocked if they went 15-2 than 13-4 though.

The 49ers have so little chance to even be competitive.

Assuming the Bucs don’t lose another game would they have the tiebreaker over a 2 loss Arizona?

1. Head to head (they don’t play)
2. Conference record (if the Bucs lose another, they’re better off losing to Bills or Colts)
3. Winning pct vs common opponents
  • Rams
  • Panthers
  • Bears
  • Colts
  • Cowboys
Thus far, TB is 2-1; AZ is 1-0. AZ still has Rams (second meeting) and Cowboys.

Brady just had the best bye week imaginable:

1. Rogers and Murray out
2. Dak and Allen put up horrible games

The MVP is his to lose now.

And then more importantly

Cowboys, Packers, Saints and to a lesser extent Panthers lose.

Cards and probably Rams win but still they are in the West and will beat each other up on the way to the playoffs.

And of course Brady’s old team got the W which I reckon will make him happy deep down.

Great weekend for Tommy

The weekend is getting even better now. Stafford throwing two pick 6s. And potentially Rams losing.

I see 3-4 potentials. Eventually Stafford will turn back into a pumpkin.
Stafford turning into a pumpkin sooner rather than later. 2 interceptions later and his team is going down, now 21-3.

Good for the Bucs, not for the Patriots

Well Lamar had a great game and a big comeback. Tomorrow they'll be talking about him being the new MVP favorite. Anyone but Brady it seems.

If he breaks all the records he'll get it. If not it will depend on if guys like Stafford go full Stafford or not.

One thing on the Bucs is obviously the penalties which shows the ill-discipline and exemplifies the greatness of Bill in this regard as Brady rarely had to worry about any significant penalties in NE.

But another thing which caught my eye was the double pass which they tried to execute against the Saints with Brady pitching it LF7 and then LF7 looking to throw it back to Brady with Brady to throw long downfield aka 2007 with Faulk/Brady/Moss. But what really interested me that even though the play was blown LF7 still tried to throw without concealing the play - which means they can’t use the play exactly the same way in post season when they need it. In the 2014/15 season against KC we were going to use the double pass with Edelman and Dola, and in the American game documentary they showed how Dola called the play off to Brady because it wasn’t there (Brady ended up throwing a TD anyway on that play) but they were able to keep it up their sleeve for the Ravens game. Obviously there is a bit of player IQ involved as well but shows how well for the most part we are coached compared to this Bucs team.

My post was specifically about Brady and the Bucs in my original post and I was replying to that.

Also Titans winning has no real impact on us because Titans going to win the South anyway.

Titans are gonna blow this. Please make fun of me if I’m wrong.
