Not sure why he would feel rushed when closes person to him was a ref 4 yards away. He was wide open.

Him being outside the hash marks might have something to do with it...

Edit ok it's the double pass play .

For all the tools that think they know better than JMD.

JT out here validating everything the team is doing

The people that bash McD like a wind up doll are the ones who think Brady never made a mistake as a human.

He's a convenient scapegoat for when Brady screwed up.

They definitely saw something in someone's defense that they wanted this on film for other teams to prepare for. My guess is that someone has DBs that are quick to support the run defense.

Now this is the kind of analysis we really need here!

So in this spirit of deep thought I will offer my own: score a lot of points!
Look at the Cowboys game plan. Throw and throw some more. They are not running the ball against Tampa. That's my point.

Yes, well designed plays, I'm sorry, did you work in the league for 10 years and then start your own QB school?
We decided not to accept Mac on the grounds that his arm is weak and he is of slow foot.

Basically, Mac in most cases is taking what is the defense giving him and the Pats are putting together well designed plays that will help him gain confidence and learn as he goes.
hey Mac. excited to have you here. good job so far, buts its also ok to pass further than 10 yards when your receiver is wide open even though MickeyD said throw it short so you can do a shotgun handoff on 3rd and long

Thanks for the explanation. I don’t mean to be a jerk here, and I’m really high on Mac, but the concern is exactly that: Mac is taking what the defenses are giving him. Defenses will gladly give quarterbacks a ton of passes to avoid a big-time chunk play. The offense can’t sustain itself because 15-play drives often require a handful of 3rd down conversions, and usually sacks and offensive penalties will kill the momentum. And in the red zone, taking what the defense gives you is even more of a steel trap.

This is not to say that Mac can’t hit big plays or that McD should open it all up and have him start launching passes. Just my general takeaway is that this doesn’t actually alleviate the concerns.
BB is deploying his "Your Guys will Self-Implode Before My Guys" conservative game day strategy.
The opposition is deploying the " Let's Try Bill's 'No Big Plays' D Strategy"

NE imploded in Week 1
JESTs imploded in Week 2

"30 Pick" Winston is on deck.........hmmmmmm.......wonder what approach Bill will go with on Sunday?

So you believe that the Pats coaches tell you every detail and what they are thinking in their press conferences? Of course they are bringing the kid along. Read between the lines, they weren't telling him to be super aggressive and you can see it from his reads. Look at some film man.
You have raised a fine son Mr Jones.

Nerves. Staring down the ball and thinking don’t drop it, don’t drop it, don’t drop it. Catching said ball and going full tunnel vision on nearest receiver. Kids a rookie who just played his second game. He’s seeing a lot of things he’s never seen before and the speed of the game is completely different. Not to mention he’s learning a new offense and playing with guys he has never played with before this offseason. There’s going to be a lot he misses, feels etc. There’s going to be some positive signs along with a lot of disappointment.

Yeah, here's the thing though, you can't engage in magical thinking when it comes to a rookie quarterback. Look at what the Jets did with darnold, Sanchez and now Wilson. You can't just pretend rookies can magically run the full offense right away.

I very much doubt that Jones is going to grade out with Alex Smith as his ceiling. But what they're doing is adding a few new wrinkles each practice, making sure they're built on solid fundamentals, and not putting the kid through more than they've worked him on yet.

If you really think this is the best Jones is going to be able to be we shouldn't have taken him in the first round. What he is, is the best he's going to be able to be literally 2 games into his professional career. This is about as limited as we'll ever seem them play Jones, because they're going to bring him along in accordance with a well devised plan. This is the cases regardless of what fans or Jones himself thinks about it. They're not going to ask more of Jones than they know he can deliver.

He'll get chances to prove his growth as the year goes on and the reins will slowly loosen, but they're not going to pretend their rookie is a 5 year veteran the way the Jets do. And I think history will quickly prove that Belichick's way of doing things is much better.

He left plays on the field. Mac acknowledged it. Don't be such a homer. It's ok for a rookie QB to make mistakes. You can take it man.
No one said he didn't, I've said that multiple times. But he left very few plays on the table on the Jets game, there were more plays during the Fins game.

Thanks for not reading what I wrote.

and how'd that work for them?

you don't challenge someone faster than you to a race

TOP.....limit TB's touches and hope the defense can force some FG's

efficiency - have to convert 3rds and keep drives going, have to score TD's in the end zone

that's how this team will win these games

I read exactly what you wrote, I guess my question is exactly what you think the Patriots should be doing differently? If you don't think we should be opening Jones up now rather than letting him come to a slow boil, exactly what are "the concerns" you have?

I know OP might have a hissy fit but I don't know why we didn't give Mac a chance to throw in the red zone at the end of the game. The game was already in hand and I think a few live reps wouldn't hurt given how poor our red zone offense has looked.
Maybe because crazy things happen in football games when turnovers happen and momentum swings. I was thinking the same thing during the game, let the kid try some reps like it's practice, but weve seen teams come back from deficits like that in a quarter, especially with a guy who can sling the ball 50 yards off his back foot.

BB took his win and chose to do that stuff in practice. I'm ok with that after the game.

So the defenses have all been playing deep as to not let an unproven Qb beat them deep with all the speedy weapons we have? I believe the bringing him along slowly thing, but not taking what the defense is giving.
Defenses have been moving up and putting a lot of meat in the box because we've been a run first team so far. Mac's been missing his throws on the burn plays because he's trying a bit too hard to make safe throws and the timing isn't quite there yet with his receivers.

When we're all a little more confident with what Mac10 can do, he'll start burning them with deeper passes to Myers and Agholor. We've already seen flashes of it but Mac's made some deeper throws that haven't quite had their timing, so he still needs to work on it before we can rely on it, and again. BB and McD know how to use a developing quarterback without exposing him,

Right now Mac is basically in Jacoby Brissett mode. A green guy who has some game but you can't lean on him too much. Needless to say Mac's ceiling is much much higher than Brissett's and we'll get there eventually but we're not there now.

Let's get you hit 11 times by 250 plus lb guys that can probably run a 4.6 at full speed and see you don't feel rushed your first 2 games into the season.
