Cam Released

That being said, he did the right thing by refusing to take the dna changing experimental gene therapy kill shot. And I will always like and respect him for that.
Say again all after "That being said,"

Where was all this defending of cam newton from the media last year when he threw for 5 TDs until week 17 and 2k yards. And had several games where he didn't even hit 100 yards? I don't care how bad your receivers are. 8 total TDs in a season and 5 through week 17 passing is abysmal.

I think alot of people are living in cam Newton's past. Not what he is now. Cam was a great teammate here. But his on field play just didn't match his off field.

There is a reason he isn't signed yet.

He wasn't signed last year either until Bill scraped him off the garbage heap on June 28 because he was cheap.

I have nothing but respect for Cam the person,
but the fact is that Cam the football player played atrocious last year. As far as I’m concerned he already had way too many chances and never should have been brought back in the first place.

I held out and was not interested in being a crash test dummy for an unapproved vaccine. Figured I don't have any underlying health issues and the pressure being put on by the Media and government turned me right the F off. That being said once the Pfizer vaccine was approved I thought long and hard about getting it. My sister who has been a nurse in Massachusetts for over 30 years finally convinced me to get it so got my shot yesterday. She's seen the battle with covid and the variants up close on a daily basis for 18 months; she seen younger and younger people getting sick with unfavorable outcomes. Don't mean to preach just telling my story. I respect you and the way you feel about the vaccine and I wish you nothing but good health in the future.

He said he thinks the Pats had already decided to go with Mac before his absence. And that Pats can win with either QB. He said he would stay as backup but the Pats decided not to, because it would be a distraction:

“The reason they released me is because, indirectly, I was going to be a distraction without being the starter,” Newton said. “Just my aura. . . . That’s my gift and my curse. When you bring a Cam Newton to your facility, when you bring a Cam Newton to your franchise, people are interested.”

Nothing too inflammatory in there.

People who work in hospitals see the worst of the worst cases. Most people who get it recover with no problems.

Lol I don't know why but if anyone else but Cam said that I would be ready to puke. On the surface it seems like a ridiculously conceited statement but it is actually an insightful, self aware assessment of the situation

I can’t help but think he has a higher opinion than most fans. I think Mac would have to struggle a lot before fans called for Cam. That said, the media would be on it from the first interception.

Not gonna lie, I'm kind of losing the thread when it comes to the anti-vaxer narrative.

So we're supposed to eat horse paste instead of taking the FDA approved Pfizer vaccine because we trust our Facebook friends more than the epidemiologists at the CDC in order to "own" the "libs" like *checks notes* the guy on Trump's White House Coronavirus Task Force who was appointed head of National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases by *checks notes again* Ronald goddamn Reagan?

Say what now?

Cough strawman argument cough

I take it the way Edelman explained it. Like having Cam in the building would create that distraction kind of the way the Foles and Wentz situation created a schism in their locker room in 2018. You have the backup who was "the guy" and the young QB trying to establish himself as "the guy". No matter how poorly Cam played last season plenty of people around the league still look at him as the Heisman Trophy, MVP, larger than life figure and you can't have an alpha dog lingering around the locker room if he isn't the starter.

That's a good way to describe what Cam released today. Pretty much just saying what most observers have been saying the whole time. It wasn't the vaccination that got him cut (but it didn't help), he just lost the job outright. The only thing I was personally proven wrong about was that I didn't believe his release had anything to do with him being a "starter-only" personality, but Cam pretty much outright admitted he was cut for that reason. He was even telling the truth when he said we would have won some games with Cam as the starter. We did that last year and won some games. Of course, he said all of these true things in his usual obnoxious tone where he talks about how he has a personal chauffeur.

The only thing that made me press X to doubt was when he said Mac wasn't actually teaching him the playbook. Maybe he was, maybe he wasn't, but there was no universe in which Cam admitted to it.

There's a sh*t ton of dumb ass people in this country. That's really not surprising.

I just don't buy the Mac taught Cam the playbook thing.

'these remarks left a bad taste in my mouth, because all of a sudden, it is open season on Cam Newton,” Skip Bayless said. “And it’s because Bill Belichick cut him, so all bets are off, let it fly, come one, come all, line up to pile on with every little bit.

“I have no way of knowing whether this is true or not, but it seems a little overstated, a little exaggerated that Mac Jones was teaching Cam the playbook after Cam was there all of last year. I’m sorry, I don’t think Cam’s an idiot

.”Bayless also took things a step further Tuesday while questioning Ninkovich’s report, pointing out that it reeks of the old, baseless stereotype that Black quarterbacks struggle to grasp the mental aspect of football.

“What rankles me, what gives me pause, what, frankly, in the end horrifies me is, are we creeping back into Black quarterback syndrome — where, ‘oh, the Black quarterback doesn’t have the mental capability that the white quarterback has,’ even the young 23-year-old straight out of Alabama,” Bayless said. ” ‘He can’t process as quickly as Mac; Mac just absorbed it and then in meetings he’s having to teach it to Cam, who’s only been there for a whole year.’ It’s just hard for me to swallow that. I don’t like the echoes of that. Because I’ve lived through it, you’ve lived through it, we’ve come a long way in this regard. And all of a sudden, it feels like we’re taking a step backward.”

If Cam doesn't sign soon I have the feeling that the racial angle will continue to fester. Yesterday Shannon Sharpe said Cam had too much charisma to be a Patriot in good standing, isn't that saying Cam was too black?

Agree with you 100% most people will recover, and its a fact my sister sees the worst of the worst. My argument has always been what do i need a vaccine for something that has a very small chance of causing me any issue. She has just seen a swing to younger people without underlying conditions having unfavorable outcomes so she was concerned for her brother and so I got the shot. I don't put much stock in the advise from Clown politicians and compromised so called experts who piss all over themselves chasing the wind making it up as they go along. I just took the advice of someone who sees it day in and day out.

I don't know whether I buy it, I just know Cam is the last person whose word I would take on the issue.
I think “teach” is probably too strong a word, but I think it’s entirely possible Mac was showing Cam how certain plays (plays McDaniels probably didn’t have Cam run last year because Cam didn’t have the skill set) worked.
