Akers is out for the season, perfect trade destination for Michel?

The minute Sony Michel is gone everyone will think of him like they do Laurence Maroney (and I don’t think he is even as good as Maroney). He gets defended on here like he is related to half of the posters. He is a dime a dozen guy. A late rounder/UDFA can do what Sony does. I think he makes the roster but I would not be shocked in the least bit if they cut him at some point this year.
Not a ****ing chance.

Like Sony Michel a lot more than I did Laurence Maroney.

Sony may not be the bellwether back most people wanted, but when he had to perform in 2018, he did.

It’s $3M for Sony. Seems like too much for low upside.

Pats can afford it this season...So unless another team offers a top-100 pick (my before-TC price), I'd rather keep him and see how the rest of the group (especially Stevenson & JJ Taylor) looks by the end of camp before contemplating dealing him.

It's hilarious how many people in here think 3 or 4 ****ty players equals trade value for one good one.

Sony can pass protect. Stevenson likely has a lot to learn. I doubt we see Stevenson at all this year.

Michel and Harris will likely split time
I am by no means a draft/CFB expert but everything I read on Stevenson said he is a very good pass blocker. Apparently the coaches at the senior bowl were impressed.

He played well in that 2018 post season but the Sony homers like to act like he was doing anything aside from running through the massive holes that O-line and TE group was clearing for him. That may have been the best O-line we have had in the Belichick era in addition to Gronk and Dwayne Allen who were excellent blockers. Maroney ran well in the post season too. That doesn't make either one of them "good" running backs.

Sony has limited upside for sure. He's not great, but he's also not a jag. Better than average.... IF he can stay healthy.

He's a better option for rb2 than anyone else at this point. Knows the offense... He can block... He can run... And catch...And last year lit a fire under his ass... Think he will play hard this year knowing he's going to most likely be a free agent at the end of 2021

I was just re-watching the Chiefs AFCCG and it was startling how dominant that Pats o-line was. Michel, White, and Burkhead were getting to the second level before needing to make a cut. From the start of the gsme, they steamrolled that defense. Those were some incredible formations with Gronk, Allen, and/or Develin along with monster run blocking from Brown and Thuney.

PFF: 26th out of 27 RBs, based on elusiveness in 2020. He was dead last in 2019.

I don’t want to say who’s #1 because it’s such a kick to the nuts.

Sony is a depth chart guy…he‘s not good as a pass catcher, which IMO is the biggest asset for a RB. A good insurance policy as a competent, experienced RB but that’s all.

I also don‘t understand the defensiveness. Damien Harris is a lot better, and they kept James White.
That article is from June 2020, referring to the 2019 season. I don't have the PFF data, but PFR says Michel's 3.6 average yards after contact in 2020 was a full two yards better than his 2019 performance, and that he led the league among players with at least 30 carries and was second among all RBs regardless of number of carries.

I stand corrected; my mistake.

He has elite size.

Trading Michel to the Rams was never the problem with the original thesis. Getting back Kupp was.

Think more along the lines of late round pick. Very late round.

Again I was proposing Harry and Michel and a mid round pick could bring in a talent like Kupp.

There's simply no way I'm trading Michel for anything less than a top-100 pick if the Lams want him before TC begins.

Cam Newton, Jarrett Stidham, N’Keal Harry, Sony Michel, Dalton Keene, Brandon Bolden, Joejuan Williams, and Chase Winovich for Patrick Mahomes.
id do that trade but i think BB would choke when he saw the Mahomes contract

Throwing Harry in only makes the deal worse because he is due more money than he is worth. They'd either cut Harry or have to cut somebody else to keep Harry around.
