A 5-year starter at 31? That's ambitious and also means putting a rookie on Mahomes' blind side.

It isn’t that ambitious, actually.

This is data over a ten-year period of time, ending in 2015. As you can see, the chances of finding a starter on the OL in the second round are still very good, and at 31 they would be greater than 70%. I think the Racens are doing the smarter thing, signing a solid veteran at LT while, potentially (if that is their plan), finding a cheap replacement for Brown at 31. If they pick wisely, that guy can very well end up being the starter at some point in 2021. If they have to trade up a few spots to grab a guy whom they are targeting, the cost should not be high.

Do those stats hold for tackles? Specifically left tackles in Round 2 (the ones typically taken in round 1 go early, every early.

My bad. I’ve posted the same graphic at least twice before here over the past two months, with the link, as part of discussions about other positions, but I was in a rush when I made the latest post, so I didn’t have time to find the article again at the time. That is just a screenshot that I have saved.

I found it here, Through a Google search (I don’t frequent arrowhead pride, haha). It’s not the original post, which, according to the article, is taken from Pro Football Reference. I don’t have the original article from pro football reference....when you click the link in the arrowhead pride article it just goes to their generic site, not to their starter by rounds data.

Current league-wide salary cap situation. A few teams are going to have to shed millions in salary in order to sign their draft picks and any UDFAs. More useful vets are going to become available. The trading deadline should be interesting because few teams are going to have the in-season cap space to add a vet salary this year. All teams have to save space for the end of years performance bonus payments.

I think this all but guarantees that Miami is taking an OL at 6 unless they trade back

I suspect that DEN, CHI and WASH will all be calling MIA. DEN is a good trading partner.

Looks like the Bucs are bringing the rapist back...
