For those trying to keep track of how much cap space the Pats may have left, OTC has added Justin Bethel’s contract. His 2021 cap figure is $1.933 milion. Devin Smith’s $920k figure fell out of the top 51, so the net decrease of cap space is $1.013 million.

OTC shows the Pats $8.849 million under the cap. The reported signings of Karras, Adams, and McMillan have yet to be posted. I suspect McMillan and Adams wil be veteran minimum salaries, so, with the rule of 51, both should have a negligible effect on the cap.

That leaves Karras’ announced $4 m 1 year (possible NLTBEs?)contract to be added. Plus, the updated figures for Trent Brown have yet to be posted 5 days after the trade became official. The full $14 million carried over from the Raiders is included in the $8.849 million figure above still. The speculation is that cap figure will be reduced to $8 million with $3 million in NLTBEs adding $6 million of space.

My best guess is once those 4 contracts are posted the cap space left will be roughly $11 million.

Add 1M from Chung's likely post June 1 release designation.
Brown could have even more NLTBE with both playing time & team/personal achievements qualifying.
Karras will be interesting: if reports chronology is true they signed him as starter but now have him as backup. Will this have effect in his contract?

Id have them closer to 15M but doesn't make much difference since they have plenty of cap left in restructures, extensions, cuts

I like Guy but he was also part of one of the most porous front 7s in the league last year. That’s not to say that he did not have plenty of help in that regard, but he also should not be considered blameless either.

With a DL crew of Godchaux, Anderson, Adams, Davis and Wise, they will likely be fine even if Guy departs. It is possible that they see view Godchaux as a younger version of Guy. That doesn’t even include a potential 330 lb.+ space eater in the draft.

Guy may give the Patriots a chance to match any offer and the decision to let him walk is unlikely to come down to a financial decision.
Anderson is the Guy replacement but guy has been forced to play a lot out of position too.

The same could be said for Godchaux. Did his part, but was also on a very poor run D. He is up there in age, and I agree with getting younger or fatter at the position. I’d just love to see him back for the Leadership he brings not only in the locker room but on the field as well. The man spent hardly anytime in the tub. As always, I’m sure it’s coming down to money/role/play time.

Godchaux only played 5 games last year, although he apparently wasn’t playing as well as he had in ‘18 and ‘19.

Those years that he played his best were some awful years for the Dolphins run defense. He was posting solid grades, but the run D was putrid.

OTC still counting 14 against Brown? Won't be near that as a cap hit.

I actually had him around 5M apy range originally but felt like even cheaper bastard than BB watching other projections and first OL contracts.
Turned out BB's still cheaper than me :)
I really wish Andrews' family got more. **** cap. Hope Bobby can add behind the scenes..
I’m sure Andrews family will turn out just find with the $19,000,000 he gets for playing game.
To put in perspective a person starting work at 22 and retiring at 62 would have to make 475,000 a year every year for 40 years (475,000 is in the top 2% of wage earners in the US) to make in 40 years what Andrews makes in 4.
Only 1 out of 50 Americans can earn as much working 40 years as David Andrews will make in 4 while you feel sorry for him.

Marcus Mariota stays with Raiders on massive pay cut.
So our options are Newton Stidham trade for Darnold, trade for Jimmy G trade for Minshew or go to the draft.
What does Everyone think Patriots will do?

He must have known that he wouldn’t get more with another team.

San Fran is going to keep Jimmy. Jacksonville is going to keep mustache. The Jets can keep Darnold.

It has to be the draft at this point.

...or sit tight with what they have. Despite fans concerns, the team ultimately makes the call. I'd be surprised if NE drafts a QB before the 3rd round.

that much money ...
Giants mis-reading the market blah blah blah

Won't hear that from Barnwell, he's a Giants butt boy.

I don’t think we’ll do a deal until/if Watson clears his name. After AB and Hernandez, I’m not sure Kraft wants to be involved in anymore controversy.
That, plus AB, and that little incident at Orchid Gardens...

Marcus Mariota stays with Raiders on massive pay cut.
Good. We already have one failing qb reclamation project, we don't need two.

Updates on Breer's trade candidates from a couple weeks ago:
Kwon Alexander - cut
Geno Atkins - cut
Michael Brockers - trade and pay cut
Brandon Brooks - no change
Trent Brown - trade and pay cut
Zach Ertz - no change
Stephon Gilmore - no change
LaMarcus Joyner - cut
Latavius Murray - no change
Andrew Norwell - pay cut
David Njoku - no change
Emmanuel Sanders - cut
Preston Smith - pay cut
Kevin Zeitler - cut

Of the 14 players listed, that's five cuts, two trades with pay cuts, two pay cuts for the current team, and five that haven't had any transactions. That of course means that none of those players were traded without agreeing to a pay cut.

Im sorry I didn’t see those I saw the breaking news on some Twitter and didn’t see it on here.
It's all good, I just was hoping this thread would stay with the transactions and the more in depth conversations about specific topics like the qb could be handled in other threads.

Brissett fell into your lap and you did squat with that.

Rivers fell into your lap and you did squat with that.

Now Wentz fell into your lap (after giving up a 3rd and a potential 1st) and he's damaged goods.

As usual, Colts are great at running their mouth, not so great on the field.

Good for us, one less team looking to move up at QB, at least this season...

I wish Indy nothing but the worst. Hoping cry baby Wentz leads to much more losing.
