As Yoda would say "There is another".The only logical thing is that Stidham is firmly in the doghouse and Hoyer would represent waving the white flag. Otherwise, Stidham is the guy after Cam's disastrous play.
I think it has much less to do with how good Cam is and much more to do with "who can handle being the QB after Brady". Cam has panache, he has an MVP, he has the respect of his teammates. I suspect BB knew 2020 was a dumpster fire and decided early that the successor to Brady wasn't the long term answer.
Cam hasn't been bowled over by the media or other players. He's confident and he's been a good soldier/leader. It might never have been about "being good".
