Can we finally stop pretending that Cam is good?

The only logical thing is that Stidham is firmly in the doghouse and Hoyer would represent waving the white flag. Otherwise, Stidham is the guy after Cam's disastrous play.
As Yoda would say "There is another".

I think it has much less to do with how good Cam is and much more to do with "who can handle being the QB after Brady". Cam has panache, he has an MVP, he has the respect of his teammates. I suspect BB knew 2020 was a dumpster fire and decided early that the successor to Brady wasn't the long term answer.

Cam hasn't been bowled over by the media or other players. He's confident and he's been a good soldier/leader. It might never have been about "being good".

Absurd

He clearly doesn’t think that highly of Stid and Hoyer. Which makes sense if you’ve seen either play this season.
I disagree. I think BB thinks VERY highly of Hoyer. He also recognizes that he isn't a very good QB.

Except Stid isn’t an unknown. Had two camps and played in relief and didn’t impress Bill or us fans.
I don't go to camp. I don't know what he can and can't do. Forgive me for not taking your word for it.

5/7 27 yards not even 4 yards per pass attempt and sacked and hurried a bunch of times against a defense that stopped trying.

This is the stat line of the guy people want to think is heir to Brady? No thanks

Watch Jimmy’s relief stint in KC in 2014. Like comparing ice cream to dirt.

Bill has. I’ll take the GOAT coach’s word for it.

Bill has seen way more of Stid in practice and obviously isn’t impressed. Sorry if that offends you.
Like he saw more of Harris last year but didn’t play him and see more of Meyers and didn’t playing him either. Guess both guys aren’t NFL caliber players.

Hoyer was not benched for taking a sack. He was benched for being completely unaware of the clock, which is unforgivable if your entire reputation is based on playing with your brain.
Cam is unaware of the field and the pocket guess it is excusable for him

I thought this before too...but my eyes tell me Cam newton can't throw the ball. So many balls into the ground, wobblers etc.

There is no excuse for 4 passing tds. Everyone thought brady was horrible last year and he still had 24 tds.

Now I'm not saying stidham is good, but it's night and day when he's throwing the ball.

I think this is about bill not wanting to upset the applecart. Players seem to love cam and hes said all the right things. He's taken quite a few younger guys under his wing. Physically he just can't throw anymore and bill knows we aren't winning anything anyway

That’s not even true. The pressure was coming fast. Stidham was sacked quick. Not like Newton who stands 10 seconds in the pocket before getting sacked.

NE lost to Cam on November 18, 2013 somehow Cam threw for 200 yards and 3 TDs vs NE. New England Patriots at Carolina Panthers - November 18th, 2013 | Pro-Football-Reference.com

NE lost to Cam on October 1, 2017 Cam threw for 300 yards and 3 TDs again vs NE. Carolina Panthers at New England Patriots - October 1st, 2017 | Pro-Football-Reference.com

Cam is still beating NE to this day, but this time hes on the team. If you count up all the NE games that Cam has given away, he is undefeated vs the Patriots.

Well, Cam got lucky that one linebacker bearhugged Gronk and the refs picked up the flag on the last play of one of those games.

Hoyer played two series after his butchering of the 2 minute drill in the 2nd qtr.
Hoyer was benched after his sack/fumble with 4:01 left in the 3rd qtr vs KC.
Time awareness was not relevant in the middle of the 3rd qtr.

The dudes awful

That's a strawman if I've ever seen one. The line of reasoning is "Cam is bad. Stidham is largely unknown. Let's see what the kid has."
He’s not unknown though. The staff has seen and evaluated him up close for nearly 2 full seasons. Like what do you think? They all of a sudden lost their ability to assess talent? They owe us going against their estimations and starting someone they don’t think is worth it just so they can prove it to fans?

The starting position can’t be “Cam sucks” because then I can justify starting anybody. Let’s start Edelman or hire back Sanu if that’s the case. See? It’s preposterous. The starting point has to be “this guy is probably better than the guy who is starting and we should improve the team”. On the field Stidham never made that case and behind the scenes the coaching room doesn’t think he did.

That is what is so sad. I am not sure I have ever seen QB'ing this bad and a team not make a change. That means the coaching staff really does believe Stidham would be worse. That is what we currently have at QB - a putrid starter and an even worse back up.

Patriots' Week 4 QB stats:
15/24 130 yds, 1 rush 8 yds, 0 TDs, 1 INT, 1 Fumble, 2 sacks, Team scored 3 points
Result: Hoyer wears street clothes on game day

Glam last night:
9/16 119 yds, 7 rushes 16 yds, 0 TDs, 1 pick 6 INT, 4 sacks, Team scored 3 points
Result: "Cam's our quarterback"

Frankly, I'm surprised this new version of Bill didn't gush post-game: 'Cam threw for his most yds in 3 games'

Side bar

The common narrative after Hoyer's inept performance vs KC was: 'This veteran should know better not take sacks in the red zone. Throw the ball away'
Apparently, Superman doesn't throw balls away either.........but won't be held accountable for his drive killing sacks.
Two obvious flaws with this

1. Stidham took two sacks in a little over 10 plays. So there really wasn’t a difference there.

2. Cam didn’t take a sack in a situation where they would have scored right before the half if anything but a sack happened.

Lol what are we doing. People inventing reasons to hate Cam. He’s been disappointing but, at least his running has been a huge asset.

Stidham is a turnover machine and we’d lose a major piece of our offense without Cam’s running.
Please take a look at the 4th down during 1st quarter and keep telling his legs are the weapon. He seemed to be with no plan to finish the action. Ok.from time to time he can get some yards when Oline cleans everything around him. Mobile QBs like Wilson,WatsonMurray or Jackson are decisive in their action s,Cam unfortunately not. He is not even mediocre passer to try to justify his actions.
Stidham a turnover machine - maybe but how can you call Cam then with his 10 interceptions in 12 he's?

I give you credit. You really are circling the wagons the best you can for Cam. I think you are going to have a long day today.

That’s probably where we are at. It’s the top team need
