Can we finally stop pretending that Cam is good?

And yet he is the best on the roster. The best gets to start. Makes sense to me.
That is true for the next game, BB is "onto Miami" which is his job that he does well, but BB is not commenting on the rest of the season or beyond 2020. Most on the board are looking beyond the next game while you are looking at your feet.

Pats will have a vet QB and select one in the draft. The Stid era can begin somewhere else.

Yet after the Arizona game and the awful performance by Cam, he had not problem telling the media that he threw 350 the week before and making excuses again.

Stid had less than 4 yards per attempt and a bunch of sacks against a defense that wasn’t trying. I don’t think Bill will be bragging about that and can’t blame him.

But hey no pick 6s for him. Baby steps...

Amazing how people really think Bill is keeping a future superstar on the bench. :D

Bill almost never bench veteran.
I’m pretty sure in 2001 if Bledsoe would not have been injured we would never Brady even if he was better than Bledsoe every practice.

if Edelman and Harry weren’t injured this year, i am confident we would never saw Meyers.

it’s honestly mind boggling that is not benching him. Not because I think that Stidham is Rodgers but because Cam level of play is not starting QB material. Hoyer has been bench this year for far less. I don’t know why Cam leash is so long
Belichick is the GOAT when it comes to coaches because of six championships. But with his successes primarily with Brady, some of Belichick's "warts" like sticking with veteran quarterbacks will probably show the next few years. He's still the best coach in the business but it would seem he'll need to get his bell rung a bit more before changing a few of these warts.

I don't think anyone is thinking that but I think that people want to see what the kid can do. Maybe he won't be a superstar but he may be a viable NFL QB. We don't know. We do know what Cam can (and can't) do at this point.

Well Cam had a 3.6 avg against the LAC and 4.7 against Ari but I guess it doesn’t matter when it’s him.

Stidham has better TD/INT Ration than Cam this year by the way.

i don’t know what Stidham did to you, if he stole your girlfriend or took your spot in the queue at the store but man you are not an actual NFL forum poster quality. Maybe you can go post into the Calgary forum to tell them how bad Stidham is.

Patriots' Week 4 QB stats:
15/24 130 yds, 1 rush 8 yds, 0 TDs, 1 INT, 1 Fumble, 2 sacks, Team scored 3 points
Result: Hoyer wears street clothes on game day

Glam last night:
9/16 119 yds, 7 rushes 16 yds, 0 TDs, 1 pick 6 INT, 4 sacks, Team scored 3 points
Result: "Cam's our quarterback"

Frankly, I'm surprised this new version of Bill didn't gush post-game: 'Cam threw for his most yds in 3 games'

The common narrative after Hoyer's inept performance vs KC was: 'This veteran should know better not take sacks in the red zone. Throw the ball away'
Apparently, Superman doesn't throw balls away either.........but won't be held accountable for his drive killing sacks.

Not BB's best comment, I agree. He probably agrees too, as he was more declarative without excuses this week. Maybe Cam is the best QB to win in the short term but I would prefer to take a longer view at this point being 6-7.

Stid is not an NFL QB and according to the GOAT head coach he stays on the bench. Haven’t seen a thing from Stid that tells me Bill is wrong. Bill has seen way more of Stid in practice and obviously isn’t impressed. Sorry if that offends you.

Or all the batted balls.

"Cam is bad therefore Stidham is good" is an award winning line of reasoning.

There has been a lot of chatter as to when Brady was going to fall off that cliff. Who ever knew it was actually Cam Newton who ended up falling off it.

This is Cam's last year in the NFL.

The only thing I can think of honestly is two part 1) BB is bound and determined that he is going to prove what a genius he is....31 other teams whiffed on Cam and I’m going to prove with my coaching Cam will be elite again and 2) Maybe he knows that if Stidham gets in the game and has a good outing but throws one pick....everyone will pile on and perseverate on that one mistake and destroy the kid before he gets going (which media and fans have already done).....I say give the kid a shot especially now when season is done....see if he has any chance to be a QB for this team...if not cut him and move on to draft....but honestly he can’t be worse than sham...who is sitting on rock bottom
Or it’s a lot simpler. Bill evaluated Stidham, thinks he’s worse than Cam, and doesn’t see a point in having the team out their in an even worse position. Like I don’t know why people think Belichick is just refusing to play good players

That's a strawman if I've ever seen one. The line of reasoning is "Cam is bad. Stidham is largely unknown. Let's see what the kid has."
Except Stid isn’t an unknown. Had two camps and played in relief and didn’t impress Bill or us fans.

Hoyer was not benched for taking a sack. He was benched for being completely unaware of the clock, which is unforgivable if your entire reputation is based on playing with your brain.
