It’s official, the worst Patriots trade ever!!!

Not very surprising, but I thought he would stick because:

1.) We were paying him 6.5M.
2.) We had plenty of cap space.
3.) I never thought he added anything to the offense that we didn't already have, but he was one of our top 5 WR's for sure.

===============

Guess this means Jeff Thomas or Jakobi Meyers made it.....

Jeff Thomas apparently took NE out of his social media for a bit today..

On IG it still just says NFL WR after he changed it recently.

Sanu is going to be good for someone else this year.
No - he isn’t.

He's a good player that has had success everywhere he's gone.
Success is relative. He‘s been a #3 receiver his whole career and helped by the likes of AJ Green and Julio Jones.

I'm fine with releasing him, but nobody should be crapping on the guy.
He sucks. Crapping on him seems appropriate if not necessary.

Rapoport adds that since the move won't make the wire today it is still possible that someone comes to the table to offer some kind of late round pick to skip waivers.

I am sure they shopped him around.. so most probably a long shot and even if not it likely won't be more than a 6th or 7th (or some kind of pick swap).

Congrats to everyone calling it.

Doubt we will get the full story but I will assume that they asked him for a pay cut and he refused.

Sucks he got injured when he did. In the end a pretty regrettable trade.

On the plus side, suddenly there is one more open spot to speculate about. Good news for Meyers I suppose.

Absolutely. Who knows how things turn out without that injury.

I called it.

But the board experts were so giddy about Sanu’s “sweet routes”
Reporters should have mentioned the “sweet routes” were during walk-throughs

Oh come on, that's a blatant misrepresentation of the guy's career. He was his team's #2 receiver in 2014, 2016, 2017, and 2018.

But.... but..... Now that Brady's gone, it'll be better for Sanu....

Didn’t someone report just this weekend that Sanu was the guy Cam seemed most comfortable on the field with? I’ll have to find it..... either that person was way off, or, welcome to New England Cam Newton.....
I guess it's possible they had a legit connection but again these beat guys are useful to a fine point and it's a cliff.

It’s official
NE is a run first team with Cam finishing off drives with 2 yard bootlegs into the endzone

Have to say I'm surprised. He didn't sound like he was doing a lot in camp based on Howe's Athletic articles but still. I wonder if someone else will be brought in but I am kind of doubting it. They really have decent amount of cap space though. Gunner feels like a lock now.
