Both our CB & WR rooms are in desperate, Desperate need of at least one more steady vet each. Way too many #5/6/7/8 types on both sides of the ball, and not enough #1/2/3/4 types...

"...Another example of the organization credo of promoting from within."

- That was actually one of the problems with the previous regime.

I don't that either room is desparate. They are just not ready for the playoffs. As you, each group need another steady vet.

CORNER
I suspect that Jon Jones is our outside starter opposite Gonzo. He is better than the other choices.

There are several choices for the other 5 positions. Perhaps a couple of them are 3 or 4.

WIDE RECEIVER
I am more optimistic than you are. I think that Douglas will be solid in the slot.

And I expect that we have 2/3/4 out of Douglas, Osborne, Bourne, and Polk.

I agree that we don't have number one. I have Baker as our #5 or #6.

One option is to keep Schuster, with no cost other than using up a roster spot.

I'm not the biggest fan of Ridley, but signing Bourne so prematurely was another example of how that money given to him prevented them from stepping up and landing Ridley. They were $1M off. Kraft uses other excuses of the girlfriend wanted to go south and the tax rate.

This is why I don't like these bunts and singles signings which add up. This was also a problem during the BB era which prevented them from not having enough money when a worthy FA/trade became available.

Yep, no reason to re-sign DawgHouse, Uncle Dugg or even Big Mike so early into free agency without first seeing what other teams thought of them first.

I'm not as pessimistic. Sure, we have a roster full of youth and/or inexperience winning because we've been horrible for the last 4 years.
CB - I think we can compete. And if Austin improves and is steady we have another very solid outside starter.
Bolden is another potential to boom.
WR - Agree, no one scares a Defense right now (except Pop - who should get 70+ rec). I think Polk is a potential solid possession guy, like Meyers. But Baker could be the big play guy that comes out of nowhere.
It's sorta exciting though. A complete reset, and it'll be fun to root for the young guys.

Jon Jones is strong enough to play outside opposite Gonzo.

I'd rather have Gilmore, but starting Jon Jones isn't a desperate move.

And yes, Jones is better inside, but Wade (or Marcus Jones) can play there.

Gilmore is someone you sign as the last piece when you're on a Super Bowl run. (and what does he really have left). Makes no sense for this team. See what we have in some of the new guys and/or Jones has been fine.
