Just throwing some numbers out there according to most recent data for New England. Take it how you will.

Cases:
Mass: 328
Connecticut: 159 (2 deaths)
Rhode Island: 44
New Hampshire: 44
Maine: 52
Vermont: 22 (2 deaths)

New England population: 14,810,000 (https://worldpopulationreview.com/regions/new-england-population/)

649 cases out of 14,810,000 = 0.00438% have been confirmed in NE

4 deaths out of 14,810,000 means 1 out of 3,700,000 in NE have died thus far by this virus.

United States Coronavirus: 14,340 Cases and 217 Deaths - Worldometer

Um 14,810,000?? You might want to check those numbers again.

Lets see what the numbers are once they can do more testing, they're woefully short on test kits and not many people have been tested.

Well sure. But what does more tests have to do with 4 out of 649 confirmed cases dying (0.61%) thus far? Will more tests automatically mean a more deaths per cases ratio?

I’m not denying that there will be more cases. As I said, was just posting the recent numbers to get a sense of the current situation..

As others have pointed out, the 2-4% mortality rate cited is reliant on the fact that medical systems will be overwhelmed and triage will result in certain patients going without critical treatment.

At this point medical systems are coping, but in 2-3 weeks ... maybe even as soon as 1 week, that will no longer be the case and that 0.61% figure will begin to climb.

Welp, the hospitals are sure on lockdown.

Younger bro in car accident and I can't even get in. (He's fine, just running tests.)

But they have 20 folks in masks setup outside to receive people. Large tent in the garage for extra space.

They're definitely expecting a rush.

I remember Trump being called a racist when he restricted travel from China in January 6 weeks ago. The MSM was busy with impeachment at the time. Biden cal ed it racist.
I don’t remember that.

There’s less than a 2% mortality rate in the US thus far of confirmed cases (217 out of 14,365) let alone for New England. What do you speculate that 0.61% for New England confirmed cases will climb to, let alone New Englanders who will eventually test positive?

I wish I could see these jokes and memes and laugh about it. But in the current situation it’s near impossible for me to make light of any of it. I’m just waiting for the lives and fortunes of my family to be flipped upside down because that’s how serious it is.

Im not getting on your (or anyone else’s) case for posting memes. I’m glad that some people are able to get a laugh in such times. I wish I could. :(

Glad to hear he's ok, even if he's a Jets fan.

Not surprising given the left is still trying to angle this whole ordeal to win an election first and foremost.

The Trump administration is equally guilty of what you're accusing the 'left' of.

I speculate that the initial delay in response was likely the result of not wanting to disturb markets during an election cycle.

So back to the politics of this.

Former Warren, Clinton aides leading 'coronavirus war room' targeting Trump's response to pandemic

Guess the Dems are making this political to the extreme. Talk about capitalizing on a crisis.

Look, I kinda hate enlightened centrism bs but at the same time, I mean, let's just be honest - both sides absolutely, constantly try to make political hay out of any crisis. It just doesn't feel like that when you think your side is the side of right and good and are calling out the mistakes of the evil other side.

let’s just be honest. They do. All they care about is winning elections and staying in power and making money

A. Agree 100%
B. This thread has been largely a one-sided crap-on-Trump fest. Can see why conservatives would also like to point out something craptastic by the Democrats.
C. Nothing wrong with enlightened centrism at all. I can’t fathom how anyone can wrap up their “beliefs” nice and nearly in a box with a party label on it and then zealously fight for the party.
