Raiders rumored to offer Brady 2/60M

How can a team get away with a non-team entity reporting something? Is that your question?
True but I suspect the non team entity isn’t that far off from the team. If you’re going to tamper I guess it gives some plausible deniability...

Don’t let any of this distract you from the fact that Chris Hogan was the last WR to catch a TD in the SB.

Emptying the tank of their cap space for a 43-year-old QB could get everybody fired out there. It smacks of Mike Ditka trading away the roster for Ricky Williams. But I wouldn't put it past Jon Gruden and Mike Mayock to do this in the context of the move to Las Vegas. I'd be interested to see what the composition of a deal for Brady would look like - signing bonus, workout bonus, and any incentives. Brady probably wouldn't take any meaningful incentives.

They wouldn't be emptying the tank of their cap space, as I pointed out.

Just thinking about what Belichick might do with $65 million in cap space to address needs and depth throughout the various position groups would be a blast. I can't remember any year that he had more than 20% of the cap to work with.

Belichick's had plenty of cap space in some years.

Regarding the Raiders defense:

DE Clelin Ferrell - 22 year old rookie (improved as the season went on)
DT Maurice Hurst - 24 year old 2nd year
DT P.J. Hall - 24 year old 2nd year
DE Maxx Crosby - 22 year old rookie (stud)

Their DL is actually talented across the board. They were 5th in run defense (3.9 ypc). They also get a 1st round SS back from injury.

Their pass defense is horrible - 31st in the NFL in opposing passer rating.

Their defense is 1-2 FAs & 1-2 draft picks at LB or the secondary away from emerging. As Deus has pointed out with the resources a good GM could turn them into an elite offense & complimentary defense this offseason.

Having discussions about players is what a team should be doing at this point in the off season. How is that sort of S.O.P. tampering?

I wonder if a sign and trade could be worked out. The Raiders have two #1s and three #3 picks in 2020 along with a bunch of interesting young players. I'd love to see Belichick sign and trade Brady for a #1, #3 and QB Deshone Kizer. Kizer and Stidham would be a cool 1-2 QB room.

I think sign and trades are an NBA thing, not sure they happen in the NFL. That said, Brady’s a FA, why wouldn’t he just go to the Raiders straight out instead of making them give up draft capital?

The most natural fit would be Dallas, if he wants to win.

Not the Raiders.
not to any team

Why would Brady sign with the patriots and then go to a team and make his new team lose draft picks? Brady would simply sign with the team and then the team could use the draft picks to help Brady and his season.

Brady himself said "I have more to prove". I always thought he meant by this that he would like to show the world that he can win SB without BB.

If in fact he did win a SB without BB, it would forever change the narrative that he is a "system QB". I do believe a part of Bardy wants to finish by proving this one final point about his career.

Could also backfire, because if he leaves the Pats and stinks up the joint, that will add more fuel to the "Its all BB" fire.

Beating Ptrick Mahomes and the Chiefs as a member of the Raiders to win the AFC West and the AFC championship seems like a stretch. I do not think he is afraid of taking this type of risk.

Yeah because that’s what everyone is debating, whether Brady is a system QB.

Come on man, this argument has been buried many times over. System QBs don’t win league MVPs, hold league passing or TD records etc. Not to mention his postseason records which will never ever be surpassed by anyone.

We’re well past that point now. Brady is the greatest NFL player of all time. Question is does Kraft/Bb deem the $30m tag too high.

After weeks of hot takes and supposed stories, Brady’s odds, according to bookmakers, have not changed.

70% chance he re-signs with Patriots.

20% chance he signs with Chargers or Raiders

10% chance he signs with another team (the field), with the leading long shots being Titans, Colts, and Bucs.

*I am personally still loving the Buffalo bet at some really long odds like 35:1. They haven’t been mentioned at all as a destination.

  • They are an 11+ win team already if they had even an average QB.
  • They have a ton of cap space to make the offense a heck of a unit.
  • That defense is lights out, and they have Tre White who was arguably as good as Gilmore last year and can blanket #1 receivers.
  • McDermott is a tool but is a really good coach.
  • The coaching staff must know what they have in Allen. The guy has unfixable flaws and can’t throw with any accuracy past 10 yards. Translation: he will always hold them back.
  • If they got Brady, they could move on from Allen without having to eat any crow.

I would put money on Raiders
Jon Gruden would worship Tom and let him do anything he wants.
Might even forgive and resign AB

To make the Raiders as attractive of a destination as possible, the best thing Gruden could do is fire himself.

32 days to go.....

I assume that you are using the term “tag” synonymously with “mark,” because the team obviously can’t use the franchise tag on him. If they would’ve had that option, I’m guessing that they’d have had zero problem using it this year. In my opinion, the biggest threat to keeping him here isn’t a team willing to go slightly north of 30m, but rather a team who is willing to give him a multi year deal, specifically three years.
