Raiders rumored to offer Brady 2/60M

Ummm...
Not saying that there's any more truth to this Brady story than there is to any of the others but it seems as though any such 'tampering' might actually be to the Pats advantage under the circumstances. The sooner Brady finds out what's 'out there' the sooner he and New England can reach a conclusion one way or the other as to how they are both moving forward.

It wouldn't surprise me at all to find out there was a quasi 'permission to talk' understanding in place

Completely concur sir

Yeah right. He is going to play for a dumpster fire

Wait I thought no one would pay a 43 yo QB more than $20M or a multi-year contract, assuming of course this is true. :D

"Tampering" happens all the time. Think about all the $ involved here. Owners, players aren't stupid and will due their homework, talk to people inside the organization. They have friends and family around the league too.

Not a big deal. We absolutely can communicate with Brady through back-channels as well and have to have the best understanding of what he wants after all this time.

Pats will offer Brady 3yr/$80M

The Raiders offense is loaded & they will be a dome team. I think they are the top contender outside the pats. It could come down to three things:

  1. Will Mark Davis guarantee the whole contract?
  2. How much offensive input will Gruden & co. allow Brady? (think Peyton in Denver with Gase & Kubiak)
  3. Can they acquire a WR1 beforehand? The rest of the offense is great

Very excited for this. Short flight to Vegas from Denver.

I will wait until we hear something from Brady, his agent, or the Patriots. Until then, I file all of this under the "old women gossiping" header.

I understand that it's the dry season, football-wise, and we are all grasping at any small scrap of news to stay involved, but in my case, I have too much going on to pick up on what is basically noise.

I'm not dissing on anyone who needs/wants/must follow all the rumours. Go for it. Have fun. Seriously, enjoy it.

But until we get the official word, it's just he said/she said.

My source basically marked this up as a bunch of hen house clucking.

And I quote, "Until then, I file all of this under the "old women gossiping" header.". End quote.

Two 1st round picks, three 3rd round picks, and all of cap space there offense will be top 3 with Brady.
They already have a decent slot player in Rendrow, a solid WR2 in Williams, and a good TE with Waller. Add Brady to that with an elite run game and line watch out after they get there WR1 (Diggs, Odell, or AJ). They can really impress Brady by trading for Diggs and signing Emmanuel Sanders

Raiders are an interesting franchise right now. Young with some good talent sprinkled around. Good running back with Jacobs, productive te in Waller, have picks 12+19 in first 3 3rd rounders and a high 4th. Have the ammo to move up and get the best wr in the draft. Have cap room to sign free agents. Yes its the Raiders but I’m not sleeping on them. If they knock this draft out of the park and were somehow able to lure Brady and some other key free agents to Vegas it would be a very intriguing team to watch for sure.

I hope not. Would like to see him make one last run here.

jeez, talk about timing. Pretty much posted the same thing.

Just to add on:

They'd also have more than $60m to play with, after cutting Carr loose (Currently about $52m under, with cap savings of about $13.5m if they cut Carr).

Good post.....key thing for Tom right now is which team is set up right now for a SB run and is LOADED with offensive weapons?! Honestly Pats would have no money to sign top O Weapons ....IF...they sign Brady. Overall Pats are an “older” team also...going to be tough road ahead because of that......I feel like Brady going to another team makes sense.....go forward with Stidham and see what happens.....probably a rebuild now anyways......rebuild and come back at it!

So how does that timing work out? When do they have to cut Carr and sign Brady?

They couldn't sign Brady until free agency. Here's a site with the dates

Important dates for 2020 NFL offseason

And, in theory, the Raiders could trade Carr and save a bit more on the cap. Of course, that theory would require that there be a willing trade partner.
