Absent extraordinary circumstances (like insanity breaking out causing lots and lots of posts having to be deleted) IMHO mods should always notify the poster that a post is being deleted and give a short reason why. And when they do feel they need to do a mass deletion they should leave a post in that thread saying what happened and why.

The mods also have lives outside of moderating. It’s pretty time consuming to give an explanation for every single post that gets deleted. Especially when most of those people would rebut, argue and stomp their feet at the mods once they gave their reasoning for it.

It’s not a realistic expectation.

Honestly the last PM interaction I can remember with the mods was like years ago where I think it was Ashley was asking me to remove dislikes after I disliked every post in a thread to prove that dislikes don't. ****ing. matter and I respectfully declined her request and said I would quietly accept a ban if they so choose because I refused to cater to the needs of tough-talking yet ultimately insecure middle aged manbabies.

I might have reported Chris S. for something but my line for what it takes to report someone is like, threats or stalking or pedophilia and I honestly can't remember.

I'd happily acquiesce to Ian releasing all of my convos with him and the mods to at least somewhat prove that this conspiracy theory of yours is childish.

When I first came here 7 years ago I spent some time on the political forum. It was before the elections of 2016 and I made the mistake of calling the sitting POTUS at the time by his complete name. I was turned in by another poster and accused of trying to incite him and I was banned from using the forum and warned that if I continued it would be permanent. At that time I let everyone know that the forum would soon be closed if that kind of thing continued. That's exactly what happened.

The funny thing is that the mod that banned me is the only person from that group who I've never seen post on the football forum in all my time here. Everyone else does. Some more frequently than others, but all but one of them was here for football.

That is why I respond to any political leaning posts here in the football forum. It doesn't take long for the trolls to turn those into a sh!t show. We've already seen our resident Jete troll try that in this thread.

From my perspective, the mods here do a fantastic job, and it can't be easy and certainly isn't worth the pay.

Not that anyone asked, but I think the moderation here is pretty good. It’s not so much a censorship issue to me, but just convenience and clutter. If you took the stance that nothing should be deleted, I think we’d have to wade through tons of garbage posts all the time which would be annoying, and a lot like other message boards out there.

Random words that get censored sometimes strike me a little funny, but it’s harmless enough. I probably wouldn’t have deleted the posts in the thread we’re talking about now, but I understand why they were.

I’ve made some ultra-****e GDT posts and never had them deleted by Ashley, Ross or other mods.

I had a post deleted IN THIS THREAD. And all the post said was that there should be clearly defined and understood rules instead of mods deleting things simply because they disagree with it. How is that worthy of deleting a post?
