The only free agent on offense that I would re-sign is Karras. He is good enough as a backup at OC and OG.

I think the rest should be gone.
Thuney (someone will offer lots more than we will)
Dorsett
Watson
Newhouse
Kessler
Eluemunor
Ferentz (as always, he could be added for camp competition)

Depending on health, we should get the following back from the IR
Froholdt
Develin
Andrews
Cajuste

Yep. Let them all walk. Thuney is going to get a lot of money somewhere and It would be uncharacteristic of the Patriots to tie up big money to two guards.

I try and bring back Thuney. Big bonus but spread out the money over several years so 2020 cap hit is reasonable. He has been so steady and reliable since signed and the team will be bringing on enough new players that having stability on the OL will be important.

Keeping Karras probably requires a starter level contract at this point, and if it’s not the Pats giving him one, someone else likely will. Curious to see if/how the health and future of Andrews might factor into this decision.

And there lies the issue. The offensive line wasn’t that great last year and if the Pats lose him don’t you think that would make Brady a little worried to come back?

I don't expect either to happen, but I can see an argument for either/both of Dorsett and Newhouse being brought back.

Andrews coming back healthy would be a big upgrade. Need to determine if Cannon has slipped or play was more injury related. Karras played solid and should be a good backup at C and G.

Was extremely disappointed in Dorsett. Really thought he had a chance to slide into the Amendola/Hogan type role and end up with a 50/600/5 season with lots of big 3rd down catches. He had that one stretch where he caught something like 20 straight throws from Brady then all of a sudden he was MIA. Fine if he is in camp but have little confidence in him being a solid contributor at this point.

As DI said, there is an argument for keeping Dorsett. He could be our #4 WR at low cost, competing with free agents and Meyers.

Thuney is the best on our oline, but he will probably cost too much. I like Dorsett more than most, but it is clear he will never ascend and will ultimately hold back our offense.

I'd blow up our entire offense. I could see how off our offense was even when we were blowing teams out. I like the skill set that Harry has but right from the start it is not a match for what Brady likes. Brady doesn't like to throw back shoulders and jump balls. He values separation and you aren't going to get much of it from Sanu, Harry, and Dorsett. Give us receivers with elite punt returning skills and that is what Brady will thrive on. Harry might shine with Stidham etc, but as long as Brady is our qb I would honestly consider trading him.

When you say “blow up our entire offense”, who do you replace from the starters and where do these replacements come from?

Tight end can come from anywhere anywhere as long as it isn't what we have. I hate LaCosse.

oline. I'm trusting scar to come through even with udfa. No choice if we can't afford Thuney. Karras is not a starter imo and was pretty bad in the run game.

wr is the tough one. I'd overpay for free agents because Brady struggles to break in wrs so why bother in his final years if we don't have to. AJ Green is obvious but I would throw serious money towards Nelson Agholor and/or Robby Anderson. I'd even call Dontrelle Inman again.

rb I'd leave alone but I would consider looking for someone more durable than Rex. Can we get an oversized back like Henry or a slightly quicker Blount. Maybe Harris is the answer but something needs to be done about our short yardage/goal line issues. It was bad all year.

Dorsett is NOT coming back.

What arguement

I think Dorsett is the only “maybe”. Especially if Karras gets starter money. I was really disappointed in Dorsett this season. I thought he’d be more of a contributor. Didn’t expect Hopkins, but did expect more.

Newhouse could be brought back for depth behind cannon. He did ok when filling in at rt.

Dorsett if there are not multiple better options brought in, i dont mind him but it’s probably not a good sign if hes back.

I think Kessler is under contract

Cajuste should fill that role.

Wish Tyler Lockett was here he is everything Belichick loves

Which free agents we resign on offense depends on rehabbing players.

If Andrews, cajuste and frodholtz are coming back healthy, then it is doubtful any are resigned unless we need cheap depth players.

if Andrews can not come back, then we need to draft the Wisconsin center in the first round and draft van Lenin the Wisconsin left tackle in the fourth round and move him to left guard.

An o line of Wynn, van lenen, former Wisconsin center, healthy mason and cannon and we can run the ball on anybody, while protecting Brady reasonably well,, Cajuste, fradholtz and maybe ferentz and newhouse and we are set on the o line.

I really want them to draft guys since we can't rely on any of the 3 you mentioned.

--Andrews' blood clot problem may be gone, but it ay come back.
--Cajuste's quad injury is of the kind that can pop up again and again. Once that sucker rips off the bone, it's never the same again.
--Reports from camp were that Froholdt was getting beat by everyone. There are doubts.

Luckily, we should know about Thuney and Karras long before the draft, but regardless, the Patriots are going to need a lot of backups on the OL whatever happens.
