NFL Rumors: Tom Brady Won’t Take Hometown Discount To Stay With Patriots

It’s weird because he always did take a discount until now. Now more than ever he needs to take a discount if he wants to have a team that has a shot at winning it all. My money is on the media blowing steam.

No need to keep creating new threads. Vegas odds were just posted in another thread with Brady at -200 to come back. Unless someone is putting their money and profession on being right (oddsmakers), let’s remember this is some very profitable click bait.

And I think it’s obvious Brady will play hard ball; he made that clear the day they wouldn’t extend him long-term. They chose not to, and he’s right to make them pay market if they want him back now. I’ve said since August that was a stupid move by the Pats. They did the same thing as the Saints/Brees, but Brady has a lot of reasons to feel differently than Brees. Brady has terrible skill players, and he’s been talking about his fitness/mid-40s goals for years. I can see why he’d be pretty hurt that the team wouldn’t give him more long-term security.

He'd be crazy to stay here. No wrs, no tes, bad ol. Another year of beating his head against a wall?

Regardless of who Brady is its not fundamentally sound to commit long term to a then 42 year old QB and definitely not now to an approaching 43 year old QB. we weren't wrong. One year deals are the only thing that are fundamentally sound considering his age.

Well at least they were fundamentally sound. Because it’s not like Tom Brady is a total outlier or anything like that. They will regret not extending him, either by watching him go somewhere else or paying through the nose. It was obvious that was Brady’s leverage during the negotiations. Patriots got their one-year safety net, and now it’s time for Brady to get whatever he wants. He was obviously offended that the team doubted him after winning 6 SBs.

Bill won't let Brady out leverage em.

He’s been to 4 sbs in 6 years. You don’t have to cry for him. He understands his best chance to win is here.

Isn’t this what the offseasons for? Just because the talent was subpar this year doesn’t mean it will be next year.

honestly think it is less about the offered money by itself, I think it is about the duration of the contract. If NE gives him 3-5 years he would take it over a 1-2 year with a higher price tag. Especially if they sweeten the deal with a bunch of talent to help him out.
And if not. Then there is no point. Brady can no long longer take a average team on his back and make a run to the SB. If he is too expensive now to get him and talent it is better to get a cheaper/young QB and give that guy a bunch of talent. It is what it is. We wont know until we know.

Think really hard on your post. Think about why it doesn't hold up logically.

I'm not wrong. It's what the Patriots did last season and it's what they will do again, you don't commit long term and break the bank for a 43 year old QB. We didn't do it last year and we are not this year which why this is an actual episode of Brady potentially not being here next year.

No offense but this article is dumb. There aren’t any sources, just Jay Glazer throwing stuff against the wall, and talking about Brady following McDaniels (which is extremely dubious IMO).

haha, none taken my friend. I didn't write it.

Patriots and Brady need each other right now. Pats to find a bridge to the next QB-brady is still better than at least 25 other QBs and brady because this system and coaching offers him the easiest transition. Just my 2 cents. Hopefully neither of them bring their ego to their table and realize the good they have and come to a working situation.

link? the book I looked at had it -150 (still pretty good)

I think he will be back... It's not like he can take Edelman... It's 50/50 blame... Bad personnel decisions and no otas or extra work... Edelman and white were the only ones he was comfortable with
