Mike Reiss of the Boston Globe reported this afternoon that Patriots wide receiver Chad Jackson has been released by the team, which comes as a surprise to most fans.  It's unfortunate because Jackson has battled injuries the past couple of seasons and has never really played to his potential.  The team took him in the 2nd round of the 2006 NFL Draft out of the University of Florida, and Jackson played in just 12 games in '06 and 2 in '07, totaling 13 receptions for 152 yards and no touchdows.

How a guy who had such potential could be gone just two short seasons later is definitely a surprise, but I would have to assume Bill Belichick and company had their reasons. In the meantime here are a couple of videos on Jackson.
