Yes but that’s part of the documentary.

Right, but my point is that it's not just one video we are talking about here...I'm sure the league would want to interview the cameraman and producer as well. it may take some time. I don't expect a ruling until next week TBH. They want the public to know they are actually looking into this...

The NFL needs to prove to Cincy, the other 30, and themselves that the documentary is legit and not a front for a larger operation. Fortunately the court of public opinion within the NFL (based on reporters talking to other execs and GMs) is that they are willing to believe it at this point but can’t believe how stupid the Patriots are.

Yes, he probably bears some responsibility. But it was a harmless, innocent documentary being shot by outside contractors. I doubt he gave it a second thought. They were filming directly in front of Bengals front office personnel, after all. The biggest problem are the hysterical, incompetent idiots who love to stick it to the team that has been outclassing everyone else year after year for two decades. Can’t beat them, slander them and confiscate their draft picks.

Sorry man, I can’t agree with that. It wasn’t harmless in the eyes of the rules. This is second offense regardless if there was useful info or not. Purely incompetence to NOT make the film crew aware. I would lose my job if I allowed the same costly mistake to happen...again.

It's more likely he had his mind on other things, like doing his job.

So there was no time BEFORE they got to the booth or before the kickoff to say “ hey, by the way in case it wasn’t mentioned....don’t film the field”. To lack total situational awareness in this particular area is insane.

I don’t think you’re wrong.

But...they followed the rules. They asked for and received permission from the Browns to film the documentary footage. I don't see how Kraft Sports Productions employees (or soon to be ex-employees) are under the auspices of BB and the Football Ops department. If a punishment does come down, (it shouldn't because this is nonsense) it should be a fine against the team/Kraft and not draft picks since Football Ops isn't Kraft Sports Productions.

I wish the media would ask Bob Kraft if he is worried that Goodell is massaging the evidence for his own benefit.

All of them. Forever. But it's okay, according to your fellow fans on here, we never draft anybody good anyway.

ARE YOU NOT ENTERTAINED????
You suck at logic, pal.

They are Employees of the New England Patriots. Look at the seating list that was provided, it’s also listed. My company hires a third party to perform certain security related tasks. If they fail those tasks, my company gets the fine. Of course we would seek damages from the 3rd party, but If it was reported to the media...BAM...our Brand takes a hit. Doesn’t matter that it was a contractor or not.
Kinda similar here especially with how big nationally the first time was.
Protect your brand.

@Actual Pats Fan

I don’t believe that what you posted about a 1975 Gatorade controversy is true. The Cowboys did not lose a first round draft pick, and I seriously doubt that there were 500,000 dollar fines being handed out. As a matter of fact, I can’t find any info on the matter whatsoever. Do you remember where you found that source/link? I think we’d better check that. Thanks.

Yes yes but you have made a critical error in your line of reasoning, which is that the NFL itself does not use reasoning in determining punishments.

Yeah, I started to figure it out once the “funny” emojis started rolling in. It must have been something earlier in the thread that I had missed, because I (embarrassingly) was being genuine. My bad.

I’m fine with that, as long as it’s a happy ending.

Agree.

The history they speak of is ridiculous. We’re talking about NE. Not the infractions. Steelers, other organizations: no problem. NE: red alert.
If I were commissioner, in light of two previous thefts in fake scandals, I would award the Patriots two extra first rounders in 2020, and a formal league apology.

But that's just me.

Hoping this is a Fine Announced Friday Afternoon Before Christmas news dump type of thing.

Not confident in that. Now that Vincent and Goodell are commenting, who the hell knows where this goes.

Vincent is a moronic near brain dead puppet for the Goon.
