OT-ish: The gambling thread

Went 3-1 and hit games in all time slots, with SF being the cherry on top of a solid day. I’m taking it easy tonight with a small-ish play with LA+170 on the moneyline, as I want to guarantee a withdrawal no matter what.

Pats -3 (bought a point) on Bovada.

I am just not feeling the spark of gambling inspiration much this year. I think it's probably because a mild concern about the longterm prospects for my job have me in a massive spending fast.

That and I miss going to a book. I can't wait to move back to Reno.

Pats-3 always seems like a solid play. My book is only offering-3.5 at the moment, but I’m hoping to do something similar.

I got New England -3 this a.m. & a quick look shows it still widely available. In particular the oft used Mirage line is at -3 as I type this. The vagaries of different books... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Unfortunately, I’m stuck with either FanDuel or my local casino here in PA. I’ve got to hope that it moves down to -3, because the only other option they’ll give me is a full point at -2.5, and that will cost an arm and a leg (-165 or -170) to where it may not even be worth it to me.

In a way, I love the ability to be able to cash out at the ATM machine and bet legally etc, but I’m missing some of the options from my offshore account like simply buying 0.5 points.

That’s insane juice for 2.5. That’s what I’m seeing the moneyline at right now. I can get 2.5 right now. I might have to conjure something up.

I’m gonna take a shot on the Bills ML Thursday and saints at the spread -6.5 looks goooooood. They won’t lose to Atlanta twice.

I wanna take a shot on the rams tonight. But I’m nervous. The ravens D is pretty mediocre but can the Rams offense that struggles to run the ball take advantage?

113 to win 187 on the rams.

Rams offense was performing a little better when cooks and woods were both playing. Both return tonight. Things should open up against a mediocre ram defense. Rams play their best game of the year and win

Under most circumstances I'd avoid a game like tonight's. The Ravens are practically on cruise control ATM but had to travel cross country for a night game against a good against the run Rams team that's home for the 2nd week in a row. As a rule out of conference games don't carry great weight but for LA this one does. Considering the Rams current 6-4 record, we're looking at a fairly desperate team. Regardless of who it's to they really can't afford more than one additional loss and still have a realistic shot at the playoffs. Outside of the East as it stands now, barring disastrous injury or something flukey, a 6 loss NFC team is unlikely to get in. Certainly in order to they'd need tiebreakers LA currently just doesn't hold.

Looking at them getting 3.5 has me really close to pulling the trigger.

Thoughts?

Yeah, it was lower than I expected at -145. I wish I had the money in the account to be able to afford it right now, but I wanted to take a withdrawal after a good weekend and there are 3 games to get through on Thursday. Thats the main drawback to leaving yourself with a small bankroll.

Week 12 was another winning week for the picker called a few games that were nice. Had the Jets beating the Raiders and had the Ravens beating the Rams soundly not 45-6 soundly but by 8.3. Also had the 49ers beating the Packers soundly.

Week 12:
ATS: 8-5-1
SU: 9-5

Season:
ATS: 63-48-2 (57%) +10.2 Units
SU: 65-48

Once the Raves went up 14-0 I turned it off knowing my bet was safe. Goff is awful and that O can't come back from that. Had them at -2.5

Week 13 is a return to a full slate of 16 games now that the bye's are over. A couple of head scratchers again this week. None bigger than the Cardinals over the Rams....but when you dig in a bit it makes sense:

The Rams against their last four opponents (Cin, Pit, Chi, Bal) they are averaging 14.75 PPG on Offense and allowing 19.75 PPG on Defense.

Other eye catchers:
Bills over the Boys
Giants over the Packers
Skins over the Panthers
Ravens big over the 49ers

When I first saw the over under for the Giants/Packers. I thought the over was a really good play. Your picker is saying 48-49 points. I’m actually tempted to take the giants moneyline but the giant defense is bad. I think I’m gonna go with the over

Good luck, hope folks find it useful.

For the 2nd time in 3 days, the wife went to bed and I turned my attention to college hoops. For the 2nd time in 3 nights I was treated to Bill Walton as a color commentator. I’ve heard 2 “fire on the mountain” references, now know that this would’ve been Jimi Hendrix’s 77th birthday, and have heard multiple Fleetwood Mac stories. This dude is somehow both a terrible sports commentator and a great example of what it means to live life.
