There is no report from BEFORE the texts were sent because that's not how reporting works. The Pats didn't know about the Civil Suit issue prior to Brown's signing. What makes you think that Brown told him about all the OTHER civil suits he had pending or the second accusation?
Bottom line - Brown didn't have to say anything (and didn't think to say anything) about the painter, because there was NEVER any indication to him that there would ever even be an issue there. The civil/extortion suit (which was later dropped) is a completely different scenario to the painter's SI interview. With the extortion case he was dealing with that for a long time, so yes he knew about that, but in this case there was never any discussions with painter, ever, until the SI-smear job. It completely shocked him, it was piling-on, and made things worse when he was trying his hardest to be on the straight and narrow. Poor judgement on his part to send the group text with her included, no doubt, but it was not something that was in the pipeline for him to consider or even inform the Patriots about. He got emotional, and over-reacted.
None of the articles say WHEN the Patriots or the League told Brown not to have contact with the 2nd accuser.
Correct - NONE of the reports indicated that Brown was told to avoid texting anyone in his personal/out-of-court life, until after-the-fact.
Could you cite an instance where the Patriots have given out detailed information about the handling of a player issue? They've never done that to my knowledge. Hell, just look at how they handled the Michael Bennett issue. It's in internal issue. He's suspended. We're on to the Jets..
Sure, but in this case the NFL and Patriots told him in tandem. The NFL does not keep things as close-to-the-vest as the Patriots. At least you are admitting that this is all your opinion, so I hope in the future you will refrain stating that Brown did something they told him not to do - it's just not true, or at the very least, proven or even reported. You are free to your opinion, but should word it in a way that reflects it is only that.
Seriously, this is a management team that doesn't leave things to chance. Whether it's on the field or off the field. I can guarantee you that as soon as the SI article about Brown hit the internet on Monday that Belichick, Stacey James and the Pats Lawyer were getting Rosenhaus and Brown together for a meeting about it. I guarantee you that they told Brown he needed to be upfront with them regarding ALL the allegations mentioned in the article. I guarantee you that they told Brown and Rosenhaus that the issues needed to be addressed by Brown's attorney immediately and not by Brown since he has a propensity for yammering on social media.
You may or may not be correct that Belichick/James/Lawyer were getting a meeting together after the SI article came out, but what is clear if that was going to happen was that the meeting was not going to be about a text he hadn't sent yet. Brown texted the painter, the painter's lawyer contacted the Patriots/NFL, and then the Patriots/NFL told Brown to stop texting the painter. THAT'S what happened, end of story. There was no allegation, the painter wasn't on Brown's radar, and there was nothing for Brown to even consider about her or discuss with the team. In general, he did a lot of douchy things, to a lot of different people. He does not live his day-to-day life expecting a lawsuit from everyone he was a douche too. If the SI-smear-job was never published, Brown would've never stupidly texted the painter, and he'd still be on the team - period.
So again, you can guarantee they were setting up a meeting and asked him to be upfront of what other issues he KNEW was coming, but you can't guarantee that they told him to not text the painter before Brown texted her, because she would have never sent a letter to the Patriots/NFL if he didn't do that. The letter from her Lawyer is what sparked the Patriots/NFL to tell him to leave her alone, and nothing else.
If you want to assume it is speculation to assuage you conscience for supporting Brown, so be it.
Yes, and if you want to assume the Patriots somehow forecasted to Brown not to text this random person before he did, you are free to do that as well, but just don't keep stating it as a fact when there is nothing to correberate your version of events.
NFL told Antonio Brown to stop contacting second accuser
Just in case people aren't reading these articles - all of these came on the day of his release, AFTER the said-text messages. You're even using the report I linked (which clearly shows he was NOT told to stop texting before the texts), as a way to somehow support your position - very amusing!
