Here’s what Kayshon Boutte had to tell the media on July 28, 2025:
On the fact we saw him matched up against Christian Gonzalez and what that does for his confidence:
“Iron sharpens iron every day. My focus is just getting better every day. I’m working towards the best players and just getting sharp every day.
On how much he enjoys the one-on-ones?
“I feel like one-on-ones is good. It kind of shows your ability to get open and catch the ball. So I feel like it’s great.”
On what Josh McDaniels and Mike Vrabel communicated to him about his opportunity here, given that it’s his third-year in the league and he’s been productive:
“I think really, no matter where you’re at, you got to work everywhere, honestly. So whether I’m here or another place, it’s just work every day.”
On if he feels like right now, there’s a niche that he’s starting to carve out for himself in this offense:
“I think every time I go out on the field, it’s just kind of showing what I could do knowing that I know what to do and how to do it and just getting open. So that’s all I can control.”
On the fact that against Gonzalez, there were football moves and not a lot of dancing to get his release, and if that’s something that he concentrates on:
“I feel like I’m a bigger guy, so I’m not really the shifty type, so you just got to get open and instantly catch the ball.”
On his connection with Drake Maye, this year specifically now that he’s had more time to work on it:
“Like you said, just having more time to work on it. Every day, after practice, I meet Drake. We just throw balls, kind of get that time. And I feel like any passes we miss, it’s our job to come through, get it after practice, and make sure it’s right. So as long as we’re doing that, we’re on the right track.”
On the fact he had some success last year and what that’s done for him coming into camp working toward beocming a better player:
“I feel like when you do good, you want to do better. So like you said, just going off of last year, just knowing that I want to do more than I did last year, and just every year working towards being better.”
On how competitive the wide receiver room right now with a lot of guys looking for a spot:
“I mean, it’s a competition, whatever. Like you said, it’s competition in every room, honestly. I just feel like all you really can do is control what you can control. So that’s really it.”
On Ja’Lynn Polk practicing and what he sees as the biggest difference for him this year versus last season:
“Honestly, I’ll say I can’t really speak for him. That’s not really a me question.”
On what he sees, or if he sees anything different about him:
“I can’t tell you that. It’s not about me.”
On when Carlton Davis and Christian Gonzalez are both healthy, how valuable it is for him to be able to go up against them:
“Just like I said earlier, iron sharpens iron. That’s obviously our two better cornerbacks, so just kind of working with them every day to get better. That’s the guys you want outside on the perimeter, so just getting better every day.”
On if he was to describe his season ideally, what he’d want that to be:
“I’ll just say, physicality. Fighting through contact, top of the routes, and just getting open, catching the ball, and everything else will take care of itself.”
