Bedard does good job reading the tea leaves

There are multiple reasons why they never won a SB w/ top flight WRs but I do believe there is a congruency somewhere between having 30+ppg-flying offenses and very mediocre defenses delivering zero championships and stout defenses and good/very good offensive teams being 6x Super Bowl Champions.

We can argue a bounce here, a stop there, a WW catch makes the difference but typically very good/great defenses make the plays when they are required to be made.

Amen. If it came down to a choice, I would choose the great defense. It’s a long season and great defenses have better consistency/staying power over the long haul of 19 games.

Fair enough.

I obviously love Tom Brady. It's him and Larry Bird for me.

However, that article is spot on with respect to it's present day relevance in my opinion. Brady's comments this week were not good.
...and back in the day Larry did his share of *****ing too.

All alphas ***** about their supporting cast. Magic, LeBron, Michael, Kareem, etc.

I do think Tom is working hard and not "blowing off" Meyers, Harry, etc.

I just think Tom needs to be quiet.

No question.

Only an idiot would rather have a great offense and a mediocre defense.

Yeah. I remember Larry calling them all sissies after game 3 1984.

I’m not sure it’s such an interesting area of discussion, tbh. At this stage of his career, I think Brady wants to be with a team that gives him the best chance to win… a team with a good defense, running game, well coached, etc. Meaning that whether he’s feeling a little disgruntled or whatever, the best place for him is still going to be the Patriots.
this..

Though I agree with the article's premise mostly, I do NOT think Brady will play for someone else next year.

Hell yea.

Larry crapped on everyone not named Dennis Johnson and Rick Robey and the only reason he spared Robey was because Robey always picked up the beer tab.

Another thing.. IF Brady after all did play for someone else, I doubt it would be for the Vikings.

I could see Chicago. ugh

The thing is the players and coaches are required to talk to the media. They're only human. They honestly need an outside enemy to band together whether it's the league on their back or the media calling them old or no good

It’s supposed to be on Brady. He is the GOAT.
The dynasty was built on the principle of spending more heavily on the pieces Brady cannot elevate and having him elevate the pieces he affects.
Brady understands this which is why despite constant attempts at hit pieces for click bait to portray him as unhappy, he has never publicly stated any unhappiness, and is still here.
did you pay any attention to what he said this week? obviously not it would appear.

AB was a steal at $9m. And if it was about winning football, he'd still be on the team.
I feel a little more scattered on this now that Hill is back on the Chiefs

Agree completely. Tom his human. Many a time Larry would deep throat (see use) to Jackie, Bob Ryan and May to get the word out on a specific player to motivate them. Then he'd spin it as us v them.

Larry was pretty damn smart. He'd say he hated the media but he used them deftly and actually became very close to those to did his bidding.

Masterful.

Maybe Tom is trying to take a page out of ole' LBs playbook?

He said nothing contrary to anything I’ve written.

I agree and do believe that when Brady is forced to throw to other people, the team does better. Brady is 42. People get pissy when they get older. And I bet his wife - the person with the money and other nice things! - is pushing him to leave. I could see him in Florida actually for his last years.
effn Florida?? LMFAO

I would be. All I see is the media finding a way to turn mundane quotes into soap opera level drama.

"OMG Brady said .......blah blah blah .....which if you think about it......blah blah blah........ he is throwing ( BB, Kraft, WRs ) under the bus."

Basically another over reaction to a game played in September. We've seen this crap over and over again year after year.

Oh wow. They're 4-0. Oh that's right. They've played junk teams. Haha

Brady has been bizarre and whiny for several years now. Honestly ever since SB 51 win.
