2018-19 Stanley Cup - Bruins vs Blues

Bruins to the conference finals. Rask didn't steal the series, but he was probably the difference in the series. Hell of a job by him.

Yep, that and Bobr probably wasn't quiiiite as fearsome as the media was making him out to be (Bobr did play very well most of the series but his 'wall' title was a bit overhyped).

Still probably the second best goalie in that series though...so there's that

I think it was a matter of the Blue Jackets' defense getting worn down, and Bob holding the fort for as long as he could, and then breaking just a little bit starting in game 4.

HAHAHA COLUMBUS SUCKS. They thought they were playing the lowly LIGHTNING.

Lowly Lightning? Ummmm, huh.

Personally I'm very glad CBJ cleared out the "lowly" Lightning. I like the road as it ended up: Leafs->CBJ->Carolina->Gronkowski Then Dents This Cup Too

Yea that's fair take. CBJ's energy level especially as the third period came on seemed to be 'Chara'-ing each game after 4. But OTOH I think if Bobr was at the level of the mentions and characterizing he was getting from the media, it could have been enough for CBJ to eke it out.
Don't get me wrong, Bobr was on, no doubt. Just, IMHO, not quite up to the way the hockey media was characterizing it (Tuuka was barely getting a mention until game 5)

the penalty kill came up huge tonight.

Once Boston stopped shooting itself in the foot, they rattled off three straight wins. They played much better in terms of cleaning up some stupid mistakes. The addition of Backes helped. The top line got going a bit, which was helped in part by Heinen sucking so badly (offensively) that they basically had no choice but to put Pastrnak back on the first unit.

I still think they’re giving up too many shots per game. It seems to be in the high 30s all too often. If they get the PP going again, look out.

That was obviously sarcastic after last year. I agree with you.

Yep, good call. The Bruins shi++y passing was definitely less on display the last 2 games. And as you, me (I think Seats, DI, Aus and a bunch of others were saying, in one way or another, that passing was F'n killin the Bruins). No doubt in my mind the reduced bad passing and awful TOs were directly connected to Games 5 and 6 looking like CBJ just wasn't up to the task (they may have been spent too)

BTW, I think after game 4 you seriously called out Chara in a post. You were spot on there too. Maybe he saw less ice time in this 3rd period as his liabilities seemed less on display tonight? (Damn work! I ended up only getting to see period 3). Certain ice time situation he's good to have out there but others man he is just not .

Thanks, I had all the fun in the world last year when the Caps won the Cup. I even got my picture taken with the Cup and got to touch it. Also went to game 3 of the Cup Final. I’m doing just fine.
thats cute front runner. to bad you are a rangers fan lmao.

I looked at the stats. Out hit, out shot and had to kill 4 penalties! How the hell did they win?

Strangely enough the game is played on ice, not paper

His +/- is great in the postseason, and we know that his size and leadership are highly sought after qualities, but man, he does look gassed at times, and I think that has led to some half-assed attempts to clear the zone, too. Hoping that he benefits from some rest, but I’m not sure if a few days off are going to be enough to cure what’s ailing him, which is likely just losing a couple of steps from old age.

They won by grinding and persevering in a tough environment, and also by coming up big in key penalty killing situations. Near the end, they were able to score twice in less than two minutes. Tuukka Rask was brilliant. He was the difference in the game, along with some key moments from role players like Krecji.

Sharks look like they'd rather try finishing at home. Very game 4ish vibe.

Regards,
Chris
