Kraft Orchids Case - Prosecuters Want a Tug Rule?

Well written and intelligent as expect from McCann..

If Kraft did this he is a creep, not much can be said to defend him. His denial is expected and done so on the advice of his atty's...

My question is that if Fla. Law Enforcement was so concerned about the women working there, why not act sooner?? If they had evidence of prostitution and sexual slavery early on why wait?? Charge the men involved and figure out a way to help the women and hold the owners of the spa accountable...

This is not an effort to blame the police or an effort to exonerate Mr. Kraft, just an honest question..

It's equally as important to gather evidence to shut down the operation for the long term.

Excellent explanation sergeant Borg...I salute you.

Kraft may indeed be guilty but your broad paint brush convicting everyone guilty is disturbing. Lots of people have been falsely accused of crimes. There's a reason potential jurors are dismissed from duty when they automatically believe that someone must be guilty simply because they were arrested and are denying the charges......not surprising that TennisBoneHead was so quick to agree.

That's why lawyers like Kathleen Zellner exist. If not for their efforts there'd be a lot more people behind bars that don't belong there.

Typical excellent piece from McCann on the legal aspects of this:
Understanding Robert Kraft’s charges of prostitution

(Mods: I put this in its own thread because it has some specific info and so it wouldn’t be buried in the mega-thread. I’d ask that you don’t merge it into that one, but I’m not going to have a hissy fit about it if you do.)

Thanks for the article! FYI... I started a separate Kraft thread, and they merged it... but it didn't bother me...

...much. ;)

ill wait for all the facts to come out before i comment

I thought everyone understood that this happens at these spas. The only thing I don’t get is why he would need to do that when he could obviously just fly to vegas

I knew IT happened at some but not ALL.

Unfortunately these spas are a dime a dozen and it's not like they're that hidden. Law enforcement does very little to shut them down, unless forced to.

Growing up, there was one at this neighborhood strip mall near a popular pizza joint, liquor store and some other businesses that remains open today. We're talking nearly three decades.

Just like everything else in the world nowadays, people are overfaking it with their outrage against Kraft. He's a pervy old man, at worst.

My concern is the NFL. Goodell can fine Kraft $500,000 after that dollar amount he goes to the owners for approval to fine a higher dollar amount. The fine isn't the issue IMO. The major issue for me is what other actions can the NFL take that would affect the team ie: draft picks and etc.

Go Pats
I could get 2 handies a week for 90 years with $500K.

Like I opined last night ... it will be all about the money shot or lack thereof.

Ivan-
He just received the Genesis Prize, aka the Jewish Nobel - a prestigious award. It is a PR headache for that group.

It’s a PR problem period, it is going to cost him in many ways, singling out acknowledgement from a Jewish organization still seems really out of line for me.

Its deja vu all over again.

Certain fan boys that gave AHern the benefit of the doubt despite the overwhelming & compelling circumstantial evidence offered immediately are once again choosing willful ignorance when it comes to another favorite son (grandpa)

Here's common sense in action.

Bob has a condo at the Breakers Resort with amazing amenities including a world renown spa. Palm Beach has world renown spas just outside the gates of the Breakers. West Palm Beach, just across the bridge, has more amazing spas.
Yet, Bob the Billionaire was compelled to depart the opulent confines of the Breakers, pass by chic day spas that line Worth Avenue and City Place.......and instead....head 20 miles north to a windowless strip mall "spa", likely adjacent to a dry cleaner and a nail salon....to get his massage on.
TWICE

Cling to the innocent narrative if you must..."It's simply a coincidence Bob frequented a notorious Rub n Tug.....twice"

Maybe Bob had a coupon :)

For me, the only unanswered question is....Did Bob bring his booster seat with him?

A few reasons. First of all, shutting down that one brothel instantly wouldn't give them the insight into the human trafficking industry in their state compared to observing it for awhile, then shutting it down. Saving those women is important, making sure the pimps and madams don't just replace them with newly imported slaves in a new location 5 minutes after you close them down is even more important. Also observing the operation for awhile gives you a chance at finding the people pulling the strings and whether this might be a smaller part of a large operation. And you get a chance at bringing down the kingpins, rather than just the people at the front end of the operation, that's important, and disrupts this kind of disgusting activity far longer.

Also it takes time to assemble the evidence you need to take something like that down permanently. Legal procedings do not move like lightning and if you move before you're ready, you can wind up with some people who really need to be in jail slipping through your fingers instead.

Also even beyond that, it helps to take the time to make sure who you need to arrest and who you need to rescue and no, that is NOT a clear cut question most of the time in these operations. A seeming madam could have a string puller behind the scenes, or could be a victim forced into that role without much choice. In a situation like this victims are very often forced to victimize others, so the more you know the easier it is to be sure, and going in there like a dog into a flock of pigeons is a great way to NEVER be sure.

That's a lot of down your nose pontificating there, Father Mulcahey...you want to know why these businesses flourish and are impossible to stamp out?
