AFC Divisional: We're on to the Chargers (Beat LA!)

Who? The Pats secondary is widely acknowledged as one of the best and deepest in the league.
I honestly haven't heard anyone denigrate them. Just curious where you've heard this because it makes no sense.

NFLN - it was MJD, Reggie Wayne or Daniem Jeremiah

Seems to me like most people are not liking the Patriots to win on Sunday. According to many, this Chargers team is too good across the board, travels too well and New England is too Jekyll and Hyde. When was the last time a Patriots team, in the last 5-6 years, was thought of as an underdog, at home, in January?!

The Chargers will be a tough test, but this is our game to lose. We play the way we can, we will win, regardless of how good the Chargers play.

Sounds like a game for White, Da Burkmeister, Michel, Patterson & Develin.

“James primarily gets matched up with opposing tight ends and he’s had quite a bit of success in that area. According to Football Outsiders’ DVOA, the Chargers were the best in the league in covering tight ends. For example, Travis Kelce had eight catches on 15 targets for 67 yards in two games against them this year.

But, for as good as the Chargers have been against tight ends, they have been just as bad against running backs. They gave up 973 receiving yards to running backs, the most in the NFL. Also, in the meeting last year at Gillette Stadium, Brady was 14-for-15 with 163 yards when targeting backs.”

For what it's worth, we are still favored this weekend.

This is absolutely insane... but if we win and KC wins, I'd expect us to be dogs next week. That would be the first time since that packers game we lost in 2014 in GB. how insane is that???

I don’t think he means underdogs in the literal sense, but more of a public opinion kind of thing.

That’s a crazy stat, though. I was trying to think of the last time they weren’t favored and couldn’t remember.

Their front 4 pressure is pretty much what concerns me the most. Combine that with our shoddy receiving options and their ability to drop so many guys into coverage and we could see problems. No doubt.

It absolutely shocked me. Think about all the games we’ve played since then. We’ve been favored in every one. 2016 afcg in Denver? Yup. Our games in Pitt? Yup. Both super bowls? Yup. It really is crazy

I can't help but look past the Chargers.......they seem inconsequential.....

Chargers have the better TE (Right now), Receivers, RB, O-Line, and defense. I'd take them easily if this game were in LA. But I can't say any team will easily beat a BB & Brady led team in Foxboro in January (Though the Ravens X2 and Jets did it). And frankly, this team has played better this year against top teams. I'll say 34-26 Chargers.

BTW, does Hollister going on IR affect us negatively? Or is he just a jag?

who's the better TE? OL? their defense has given up more points than the pats......

Right now their Tight end is playing better than Gronk I mean. I said their D was better mainly because of the talent on both sides. But statistically, you are correct.

which TE? Gronk has more receiving yards than all of them combined......are you talking about Hunter Henry? the guy who might play for the first time this year sunday???

Who knows, Hollister hasn't really played. He certainly could not block. Somebody linked Belichick talking about the guy they brought up from the PS, he might be a guy who sneaks up on us. Unlikely though.
