Why is no one talking about Pittsburgh?

I know the Tom Brady and Bill Belichick have owned the Steelers in the past but this year feels different to me. The Steelers are getting constant pressure on opposing quarterbacks and the Patriots and Brady are really struggling to beat the blitz. Their defense has dominated the last four or five offenses they've faced.

The Steelers offensive line is playing at such a high level that they can lose LeVeon Bell and his backup puts up even better stats. Ben Roethlisberger also has had all day to throw and has rarely even been hit this year. They also have JuJu Smith Shuster putting up Antonio Brown type games.

We barely beat them last year at Pittsburgh and Brown went down in the first quarter of that one. If not for the overturned Jesse James touchdown we lose and likely have to beat Jacksonville and then travel to Pittsburgh for the AFC title game.

I just don't hear enough people mentioning what a threat they are this year. Needless to say, that week 15 game at Pittsburgh will be huge. It just seems to me that the Steelers are a much better team this year and we have taken a big step back. I don't think I can handle it if the Steelers go to another Super Bowl and get another referee assisted Lombardi

That will likely decide who gets a bye.

Provided we get healthy I think we are in great position to make a run. Weird year trying to get through the first 4 to get Jules back now trying to keep it together to get Gronk back. Not to mention all the RB injuries. But the bye should help us get this train rolling again and then bring on Pittsburgh.

The Steelers are the better team.... right now.

The game in a few weeks will feel like a playoff game as both teams will want that bye. They will be tough to stop on offense. Conner is more of a decisive runner then the tap dancing Bell who struggles against the Pats 2 gap scheme.

It’s a shame CBS keeps hijacking important games like these.

The Pittsburgh game will tell me a lot about this team. If they win, I can see the Pats going on a lengthy playoff run. If they lose, they just don’t have it mentally this year to win tough games.

Why is no one talking about Pittsburgh?

Let's see if I can shed some light on this matter.

  • This week: Patriots v. Bye
  • Next week: Patriots v. Jets
  • Third week: Patriots v. Vikings
  • Fourth week: Patriots v. Dolphins

I think that should cover it.

Right. So we don’t even know what the league looks like a month from now. Everything could change

4 of their last 5 are against playoff contenders; chargers, saints, bengals and pats. Granted 3 of the 4 are at Heinz, but, I think they have a tougher schedule than the pats going into the playoffs.

And even then, it seems to be brought up fairly often. It seems like just about everyday where someone discusses the potential for the game to decide the 2nd seed. We just don’t have a thread dedicated to the subject, for the reasons stated in your quotes.

Jaguars on the road may not be a cakewalk this week, either. As someone else pointed out, we can still lose to the Steelers and have the 2nd seed, granted they lose twice.

They are a serious threat and it is our biggest matchup left easily, but i still like our chances. They havent faced much in terms of great qbs this year, maholmes ripped their d and they’ve done well against cam ,tho cam is more up and down and folds pretty easy when things dont go well(see 2015 sb). If our o can get it going after the bye which i bet they will, pitt will struggle with brady as usual. I think white will give them fits as well and if gronk is healthy they never have an answer for him.

They did play us tough last year bur keep in mind we were on a short week after miami beat our butts the Monday before and it was the tail end of a 3 or 4 game road trip.we were also without van noy which normally isn’t a major loss but with Hightower out last year it left us paper thin at lb. we play our best ball after thanksgiving usually and if thats the case this year id like to see a real statement game up there.

All that said, ive gotta hand it to them, most teams not named patriots windows close after 3-4 years in the playoffs but they look poised to be a serious afc threat again. Credit to tomlin who ive never really been a big fan of but it looked really bad for them early on and they turned things around.

Indeed. On the front page, we've got the L.Bell thread, as well as the thread where we're keeping tabs on the contenders.

They play Jaguars on the road, and then Denver on the road.

What is Pittsburgh famous for? Playing down to competition. Do not pencil either of these games as wins.

Matchups vs. Pats, Saints, and Chargers won’t be easy for them either. Two, maybe even three losses are definitely still possible for them.

Not hardly. Although I do live in Northwest PA where it seems everyone is a Steeler fan but me and my kids. I can't express how much I hate that team. I dread the day that Brady and Belichick retire because they are the main reason the Steelers don't have a few more Super Bowl wins.

No other coach and quarterback has ever given the Steelers as much trouble as Belichick and Brady and boy do those Steelers fans hate both of them.

I have Pittsburgh as most likely to win the AFC right now. And I hate them more than any team in the NFL, including the Jets. I think they are better than KC. With the Patriots it’s just a question of how badly Belichick can pants Tomlin, who is their weak link and a total joke of a head coach.

I'm actually feeling better and better about the Pats assuming they can get healthy.

1. Putting Gronk, Edelman, Michel, the tackles, Mason and a Gordon who knows the offense all on the field at the same time.

2. 5 of the last 8 Pats games have been in the 8PM slot. I think that's more of a grind that the road games.

3. 3 of the last 4 games on the road.

4. They catch Minnesota coming off of two 8PM divisional games and it's a dome team in NE in December.

5. Pitt will play 3 of 4 on the road coming into the Pats game. @Jax, plays them as tough as they play the Pats. Then they have a 4:25 game @ Denver which playing back to back road games is rough but then also with travel this is nearly as bad as an 8PM game, plus the altitude. Then they have the Chargers in the 8PM slot and then they have to travel to Oakland which again is nearly as bad as playing the 8PM slot. I think Pittsburgh could go 2-2 in those 4 games heading into the Pats game. Then they still have @NO week 16 and the Saints likely need that game for the #1 seed.

6. The Pats have no remaining night games.

7. Their SOS and SOV were both over .500 through the first ten games. Remaining schedule is 25-31-2 as of now. Weird having two teams remaining with ties.

8. I think they run the table and end up the 2 seed. If both LA teams can beat KC that's their shot to be the 1 seed. I think they lose one of those not both, hope I'm wrong.
