He never had a problem setting the edge although for some reason fans like to say that even on plays when his job wasnt to set the edge.I never ever said he was bad player. Not setting the edge properly was one of the reason we traded him. All I have been saying was teams do not win Championships with super.expensive DE.
However you wanna judge him, he passes the test. Tape, stats/metrics etc Jones was/is a vg-great player. I never understood that narrative but people run & hang on to it.Jones was a very good run defender here. The problem when he was here was that he wore down and was not effective late in the season. However you wanna judge him, he passes the test. Tape, stats/metrics etc Jones was/is a vg-great player. I never understood that narrative but people run & hang on to it.

Do you have that data for all teams?Another tw3ist to the Mack contract now is the fact that the Raiders are cash poor right now. All contracts with guaranteed money have to have that money put in a NFL monitored escrow account. Right now, spread between Oakland and Las Vegas, the Raiders (more specifically Mark Davis) doesn't have 30-50 million to put into an escrow account.
I think more and more, the Raiders are just going to wait for Mack to come into camp and just have him play out his contract and then most likely franchise him.
Why would you call 2013 his best year??The best season Jones had here was 2013 which our run defense ranked 24th in the league.
That would put you far into the minority.I would prefer Ninkovich over Jones in run defense.
It’s the truth. Fans who don’t watch closely throw out uneducated opinions and the obligatory “set the edge” comment. For example in our base d in 2013 if jones was on the strong side he didn’t even have contain.Stop using "for some reason fans" . You were generalizing my point to make your argument "special" without actually providing anything useful.
You realize that ninkovich was part of the 2013 defense that you seem to him is proof a de is bad against the run, which is hilarious by itself. The best season Jones had here was 2013 which our run defense ranked 24th in the league. Not this season, anyway.Mack to the packers? Hope not.

I’m with you and would’ve kept Jones for at least his contract year. The Dolphins have shown you could break the rules and “Franchise Tag” a player you have no intention of signing long term and trade him for more than if you just let him walk. I used to think Jones disappeared late in the season, but I’m starting to lean more towards scheme that was holding him back. How does he go to a team with a losing record but lead the NFL in sacks? However you wanna judge him, he passes the test. Tape, stats/metrics etc Jones was/is a vg-great player. During jones time here I used to rewatch every play of every game in slow motion 90% of the time, especially on running plays. I don’t have the time to do that any more but there is just no question of you look and know what you are looking at Jones was the best run defender at the DE position we have had since we went back to the 4 man front base. No one else is even really close.

Can you try that again in English?[/QUOTE]OMG, you are so special and educated. "Fans" vs "you" all the way. You cannot say two words without trying to belittle others. What that says about you? In other thread, some dude said "fans uses IR-Dowling are insecure and immature". Oh my my, look at that high horse of yours.
Can you try that again in English?
“Fans said things I do not want to understand. So I am just going to pretend.”
Fans said things that are wrong. Things that I literally watched every play multiple times and know for a fact are wrong.
There is nothing to understand. Sorry but if you think chandler jones wasn’t a good run defender here there are only two choices. You didn’t watch him or you don’t know what you are talking about.
This is the problem. You can’t use stats to grade an individual players run defense. You have to watch the player and analyze. I have. You are free to elaborate and provide some stats or any evidence. Instead you just repeated "I am right and you are wrong” three times.
