Rumor: Pats interested in Josh Rosen?

I would hate that. Way too much to give up on a prospect that while he has upside has several issues. Now I hope he doesn't fall.
Have to disagree
Like him over Mayfield or Darnold
Jackson would be my next guy

CBSSports has a mock with NE giving up 3 #1's to move to #4 this year ....securing their QB of the future...Darnold.
BB just vomited in his mouth.
Thinking like a BB........I would play the trade out game this year if a garbage team wants to play ball.
Trade away #23 to a garbage team for a 2019 #1 plus one or more 2018 picks (#2?) with the hope that the garbage team continues its futile ways next year. The cost to NE is only time....and certainly not 3 #1's.
All it takes is one panicky GM.
Slow playing the hand can bear fruit in the long run

Some people on this board think brady will play till he's 45. I think he plays two more years max so i wouldn't mind picking up a QB this year.

Can't wait until Thursday is here and gone, and this nonsense ends.

Did Darnold, Rosen, Jackson, or Mayfield had an official visit with the NE Patriots? How about a private workout?

If no to both, then there is 0% chance one of them will be selected by BillB.

Jackson did and not true we have drafted players high weve only had interest from the combine and still took those players.

They're secretive of their meetings, but it's not uncommon, and possibly more the norm, that the Pats have little official contact with their picks prior to selecting them.

If Cleveland is smart, they take Barkley at number 1.

Gettleman has to win now and a qb does not help him next year.

With Barkley gone, gettleman will take Chubb over a qb because gettleman loves blue chip players and is too stupid to trade down.

That leaves the jets at number 3 with all the qb’s on the board. But these are the jets, so they take mayfield.

Now Cleveland can take allen at 4.

Denver is at 5 and here comes buffalo giving them a king’s ransom for Darnold.

At 6 the colts seem locked in on ward.

At 7 Tampa bay takes Fitzpatrick.

At 8 Chicago takes Nelson,

At 9 San Fran is thinking about a trade, but can’t pass up on Edmunds.

Now we come to 10 and here comes bb. 23, 31 and a 2019 2nd rounder for Rosen.

Brady starts in 2018 and 2019. Rosen takes over in 2020. This could not fall any better for New England,

Looks good in writing, but your whole entire premise starts with the phrase “if Cleveland is smart.”

If we trade the 31 for a Jag LT and a few mids instead of using it to grab a potential starter like Evans or Kirk.
Or package it up for a future stud QB. Or the beast defensive stalemate.

Zero chance of that happening. Cleveland has 4. They can draft their number 1 QB pick and will still end up with either Barkley or Chubb at 4. That’s better than picking your second or third QB and getting either Barkley or Chubb at 1.

Also the Giants are in love with Darnold. If he’s there they will get him.

Furthermore let’s say your scenario holds true up to 5. There’s no reason for the Bills to trade with the Broncos as there is a zero percent chance either Darnold or Rosen don’t fall to them at 12. Also at that point you have to think Arizona would consider a shorter trade up to jump the Bills.

There’s a zero percent chance Rosen gets past 10. Hell I think there’s a zero percent chance he makes it past 5

How many of these 1st round picks were duds in past drafts? Statistics show less than 50%.

How many Heisman winners (historically) in college end up successful in NFL? A low percentage.

You can still win-it-all with an above average QB selected in the mid/late rounds. A QB that fits your system is MORE important than a Heisman QB that don't.

Hey All- I'm not a draftnik so really uninformed on who based on skills, attitude is the right fit for the team at QB.

Is Rosen THE guy?

Just to stoke the fires a bit, I would like to respectfully point out that there are different types of ways of being an excellent athlete, hand eye coordination and footwork is arguably more important that running really fast for many quarterbacks. As an example:

Said about QB #1: "I think he could have been one of the greatest catchers ever,"

Said about QB#2: They were two Texas tykes on an Austin tennis court. The little shaver with the sound strokes, even at the age of 8 or 9, was Andy Roddick. The other kid did not have Roddick's grounding in tennis fundamentals, but how he would compete! “I remember the most annoying thing was that ____ played about twice a week,” Roddick said. “I was hard-core; I was playing every day, every weekend. I could never beat the guy!

Said about QB #3: "He was once a rising Southern California tennis star, getting sponsored by multiple companies and travelling around the country to play in tournaments.....at age 12 he was the No. 1-ranked player for his age group in Southern California and top-50 in the country, and he became a top-10 player in junior rankings."

It sounds like these three quarterbacks were excellent athletes even apart from their football abilities (of course, that doesn't guarantee or even suggest success as a QB, but it certainly doesn't hurt). Any guesses as to who these three fine athletes are: QB#1, QB#2, and QB#3?

I think he’s in the Jared Goff range of talent. Might not carry a franchise like Brady or Rodgers, but will win with talent around him.
