rumor: Brady not expected to be a regular participant in offseason program

This protest line (now with a story on Brady possibly not returning) just seems off. If Brady and Gronk want Belichick gone, then it seems an odd play as neither may be long for the NFL and coaches (even older coaches) can last much longer. Kraft brought in Belichick (not Brady) to fix the Pats. It would seem to be a weird power play to ask Kraft to choose one over the other, if that is what this is at all.

Brady has missed offseason workouts previously (2010 for example). He is image and legacy conscious, and leading a mutiny, especially if it is successful and the team were to be less successful without Belichick, would be a significant black mark on his career. I could see he and Gronk skipping voluntary workouts if they are in a divide over Guerrero methods vs. team trainer.

As Brady has played the statesman in his career, I see him calling it a day in a formal conference when done and leaving as he has played. With storylines going from February contract holdouts unless he got a new deal to Guerrero and now to he may not return in 2018, the melodrama just isn't entertaining. I will care when either Gronk or Brady actually say something that offers more than tea leaves on how 2018 might play out, or the Pats announce either or both are being placed on the retired list and off the roster.

Agree 100%

Bill is not going anywhere. As much a Krafty plays up Tom for the fans, the team is for Bill to run. I also think the Tom OR Bill storyline is BS.

Yea I'm stopping short of saying there is a revolt but due to an accumulation of things (Guerrero, contract $, weary of the grind playing for this org) I do think there is some weirdness going on with Gronk & Tom. Both are at inflection points in their respective careers.

I know Tom missed in 2010. I don't mean to overblow his absence. I do think he is doing his best to balance family, TB12 brand promotion and being QB for the NEP. He'll be back soon enough.

45 is a pipe dream now, it's a max of 2 more years at this point.
It always was a pipe dream. The sentiment on here that Brady would play until 45 was based on hope more than anything.

The first few practice weeks involve getting into condition. Who cares where Brady does this? The more important work is the OTAs. This is where the 2018 offense evolves. I would be disappointed if Brady only shows up for the mandatory mini-camp. This would be a signal that he has lost interest in competing against the other
NFL teams at a high level.

I'm not giving up on 45 yet! Lol
I hope so too. There’s no sign that the guy is slowing down. But there are too many factors in play which, unfortunately, indicate that the dark times are coming.

Would have been nice to know this before we moved JG. I love Brady as much as the next guy but he needs to be in or out and not become a Favre like drama queen.

If he pulls this **** last year he is gone no matter what he had done for this franchise unil then.

But yeah Brady is anything but a diva according to the his homer fans around here. Doesn't even give his own team a definite word about playing and we are in the middle of April.

Wish we had options at QB to not deal with this garbage.

I know I’m a pain in the ass to debate with but you should take a deep breath and collect your thoughts

You are not difficult to debate with it is just pointless because we both have strong opinions about our own interpretations of how everything happened and I dont see a point talking any further about it. Nobody will convince the other of anything.

I suppose you’re talking about me?

No. I definitely respect your opinion too much to put you in the bozo group.

There are always options at QB. They’re not going to be as good as Brady, but they are options. Why not trade him now and use the picks to move up? Or trade him and stay put if your guy is available later. Why would you want a diva QB?

NFL Rumors: Tom Brady Leading ‘Pushback’ Against Bill Belichick’s Culture

If brady fuC*s things up now we just sent Jimmy G on his way, I for one will be pissed at him. This may be a load of rubbish but i can imagine tom doing this after plotting with Guerro (sp) and gronk. He had better not let his own ego mess up our next decade of Patriots support. The team success is more important than toms own happiness for us fans. Tom being "happy" is not my concern pal.

Don't believe the hype. It's April. Brady will be playing opening day, Belichick will be coaching opening day, and Gronk will be catching passes opening day.

Both the media reports talk of "Revolt" and "Brady not committed to playing" but in the actual article both writers say they expect he'll play this year.

....just a bit of pudding.

Thread title different than actual article.

There are 3 points in this article I am taking away from it.

1. Tom is fed up with the system
2. Tom is fed up with Bill
3. Tom is in a happy place with sunshine and rainbows 24x7x365

My god. Curran is really feeding this.

it's all baseless as well as relatively pointless

but I would like to see the question of whether it was Brady or BB as the primary reason for greatness of the pats be settled

brady's been kind of a douche ever since they traded jimmy

It always was a pipe dream. The sentiment on here that Brady would play until 45 was based on hope more than anything.

If we break everything down (and by everything, I mean all the public reporting, which is what we have to go on, so I acknowledge that every one of us may be debating "fake news"), Brady was looking forward to playing until he was 45+ until BB went too far with his hardass approach and then had it backfire spectacularly in the Super Bowl. If that's what this is all about, it should be an easy fix, though things will never be what they once were.

We may be watching the fall of the greatest dynasty in the modern NFL era happening because the coach chose to alienate the greatest quarterback of all time by making decisions which anyone looking in from outside could see were bad, or at least suspect, ideas.
  1. Humiliating Gronk and belittling Brady's TB12 method because Gronk's recovery from yet another back surgery was taking some time
  2. Praising JAG every time he got a chance, while minimizing what Brady was doing
  3. Screwing the pooch in the Super Bowl by benching the guy who'd been playing 98% of the snaps
And it's possible that this could all have been avoided if BB had just

  1. Traded JAG in the offseason, when it made sense and would have brought in a better draft haul
  2. Found a better way to resolve the TB12 issue and kept his mouth shut about Gronk's recovery
  3. Either done things with Butler differently or at least done a better job of justifying the move
Three common sense actions, and we're probably not dealing with any of this ****.

While I don't think for a second Brady isn't playing both this year and next year I do think a lot of this unrest is on BB.

Sitting Butler and potentially costing this team the super bowl (I honestly think if he plays they would have won) has caused a lot of discontentment. The other players on the team really liked Butler so they were pissed he was forced to sit out. Also if they put in all that hard work to get to that point only to have BB screw around doing some dumb crap at the end to blow it then that absolutely kills team moral.
