Scenario: A surprise trade

Agreed—at least on some level. They’re also doing a better job of trying to mask his issues in pass coverage than they were before.

At any rate, there have been plenty of second round misses and I’d see no reason to trade a first for Cooks, get him acclimated into the system where he produces nicely, and then trade him for a second round pick at a reasonable (for a WR) salary; particularly when they’d already be getting a 3rd round comp pick. There’s always the thought that it could be a money issue, I suppose, but he just teamed up to give Brady an MVP season.

I really like Cooks, and would hate to see him go. Especially considering that he developed a pretty strong chemistry with Brady, he’s young, & cheap (at least for this year), but for a dominant/highly effective pass rusher (hypothetical).....see ya!

Maybe The Pats have a rookie they are targeting or Alan Robinson?
I hear what you guys are saying, but I think we may be underestimating just how difficult it is for someone to come in here and produce like that, particularly in their first year. I don’t think it’s going to be easy to go out and snag someone else via the draft or FA—and if you’re going to pay Robinson top dollar it may make more sense just to keep Cooks, even with some of his first year limitations.

We’ll have to see how it plays out. One thing is for sure, it’s never boring around here.

I prefer Cooks but I really prefer Clowney.
Let me be clear I only trade Cooks if it can land me Clowney or he's *****ing for top money.
Alan Robinson being from PA I've always loved him.

Why do people dislike Brandin?
From what I see he is the first receiver since Moss to come in from day 1 and ball out know the system run crisp routes and be a home run threat.
Unless AJ Green or DeAndre Hopkins is coming thru that door keep Cookie.

I love Cooks on his deal right now, but I would not love him at $15m/year

Call me old fashioned, but when I'm paying a top of the market price for a WR, I expect to be getting a Larry Fitzgerald/Julio Jones/Megatron type WR that has no weaknesses and can simply out muscle, out jump and outplay the opposition even while covered

Cooks is a great complimentary piece, but not a guy you build your offense around or someone who can take a game over.. those are the only types of players that you should pay top of the market deals to IMO

One rumor said that Clowney is going to be the highest paid non-QB in the NFL, which would put him at over $19 million a year. Hard to see the Patriots doing that.

The only guy that BB would pay that much to at the DE position is if Belichick collected some of Lawrence Taylor's DNA back in the Giant days and has been growing him in a lab beneath Gillette Stadium ever since

Seems as though you don’t love Allen enough to know how to spell his first name.

The man is very strongly contemplating retirement and cannot stay healthy. I do not understand why people think teams are going to be willing to give up a haul for that. Or much of anything, really.

Seems as though your a ring behind. Either that or you misspelled your user name. :D
Clearly, he’s a dupe account for the doctor of English, judging by his propensity to point out errors in spelling.

Did you not notice how our offense IMPROVED during the SB after the lost little Cookie got his clueless ass knocked out of the game?
If Bill has been ass-ured by his quacks that both Edelman & Mitchell are progressing towards 100%, then I would deal little Cookie to Chicago, e.g., for their 2nd- & 6th-rounders in a Feckin Heartbeat.

That's a harsh conclusion to make that Brandin being off the field is what boosted the offense.
You could argue when Cooks went out the fire and intensity in the offense went up even more.

First off, whoever wants to trade Gronk, stop it. He aside from Brady is the only true superstar on the Patriots and is a HUGE playmaker.

As for Cooks, I think the Pats should keep him and see what he does in year two. If nothing else and he leaves in free agency after this year, they will most likely get a 3rd rounder comp pick for him. I think it is unfair to judge Cooks in the Pats offense, when he never got a chance to play with Edelman. If the Pats can keep Gronk, Edelman, and Cooks on the field at the same time, that is an offense that nobody is going to want to face.

Yes, that’s a nightmare offense

If they could get 80% of his production from someone else then sure, but those guys are all getting paid too. Gronk is too much of a beast

I wouldn't move Cooks unless we got a first rounder. The guy was starting to heat up with brady before he got injured. I also mentioned our wrs getting up there in age.

As usual fans hit the panic button and now want to bail out on Gronk and Cooks, 2 of Brady's most reliable weapons last year. And you are going to replace those two 1,000 yard receivers with what? A freshly drafted WR, because we are so Great at developing those, R-ight? *SMH* A new tight end because it took BB only 10 years of drafting to hit on one of the best performing tight ends of -all-time- when healthy?

Thank god you guys aren't GMs cos listening to DWToys and his Posse making trade proposals just gives me a headache.

Yeah, Allen has outplayed him anyway.
