If we trade Gronk it'll be for a 4th rounder and a STs tweener and we'll all sit here bitching or at the very least scratching our heads and then the Pats will win the super bowl.

    IDK.

If you look exclusively at his receiving ability and then compare him to WRs at a similar accomplishment level, his $8M and $9M salaries for 2018/2019 don't look bad at all.

Then, throw in his blocking ability ...

He's most certainly worth more than a 1st-rounder to the Pats, but I do think more than one team would offer a 1st for him.

It does no good to trade him to a team he won’t report to, and Gronk Would most certainly retire before playing for Cleveland. And it would be a douchebag move to treat him that poorly.

Top 15 pick to an NFC team or just let it play out.

I’m not sure we’ll get a high pick for Gronk but luckily we can throw Brady in the deal. Winning the off season Super Bowl would be awesome!!

    Some un
Some unverified rumor at the combine was that we were sniffing around Jadeveon Clowney.
I'm just saying if Gronk is really unhappy and we aren't planning to scratch that itch thats a trade that makes sense.
Obrein is familar with him he knows he can play perfectly in his system a young QBs best friend is a stud tight end.
I could be way off and more than likely I am but I love big trades.
    This would be a doozy.

One rumor said that Clowney is going to be the highest paid non-QB in the NFL, which would put him at over $19 million a year. Hard to see the Patriots doing that.

I'd agree accept Exhibit a is Stephen Gilmore.
BB has shown he will pay top dollar for top performers

Excluding franchise tags, Gilmore’s yearly average makes him around the 35th highest paid non-QB in the NFL right now. It’s a huge jump to go from his $13 million a year to Clowney’s hypothetical $19+ million a year.

    I'm not so sure
You could of just as easily of written
    1. We won't trade Jimmy G for less than 2 1sts
    2. Malcom Butler will retire a Pat after being a Superbowl hero
    3. Patriots won't bring back Martellus Bennett.
    4. Patriots will never pay top money for a cornerback in BBs system.
5 .Josh Mcdaniels will be head coach of the Colts.
    6. Patriots will never sign James Harrison
    7. Adalius Thomas Patriots never pay big money for free agents.
    8. Patriots never invest 1st round picks on receivers enter Brandin Cooks.
    9. Patriots will never sign a malcontent like Albert Haynesworth or Michael Floyd
    10. Belichick will never have a ball hog primadonna like Moss on the team.
    11. Patriots don't spend 1sts on runningback Maroney says hi.
The list could go on but all we know is that we have no idea what BB and Caserio will and will not do.

This post means no offense to the original Poster

I know. My reason for saying all that is because I can’t see giving a 1st round pick for only one year of cooks. That’s not a good idea. With gronk, I don’t see him traded because he’s just too injury prone and worth too much to trade off for a 2 nd or 3rd. The thing with clowney is that we don’t have the cap space for that type of high $ so while anything’s possible I don’t see these trades happening.

Now watch B.B. make all 3

When he has the cap space. He won't have near enough to cover Clowney this year.

    Perhaps.

    Rather keep him

But if his beef is money, the Browns might tear up his contract (sign and trade)?

Secondly, yes it could be seen as an evil move, but if it comes down to this, .......everyone gets what they want. It doesn't seem like Gronk is shedding a tear if it is true and he wants to walk (if true).

Gronk shoots his way out. Rosenhaus gets more money and displays his power to gather new clients.
Gronk gets to be the face of the Franchise and not overshadowed by a TB (perhaps it's ego with him?). He wants out because he does not feel the love? He will be loved there.

Maybe a new contract. Plenty of love. Plenty of free time. A coach he can probably run over.

The Pats get an upgrade at LT with Thomas (if they lose Solder) and two top picks that we hope aren't used to stock pile ST Safeties.

In the end I hope he stays

There is zero chance Gronkowski would accept a trade to the Browns, he would retire before doing so.
