Bradford: Baker Mayfield a Patriot?

H

Here is a crazy thought since Bortles was reportedly ranked ahead of Jimmy Garapollo by us could we make a play for Blake Bortles when Brady's career is done?
I know it's horrifying compared to what we had in Jimmy but it's a thought.
I also really like AJ Mcarron and he could be had cheaper I believe just some thoughts.
The rookie class out of the top 10 doesn't inspire me.
Why would you want to find a veteran who was ruined in someone else’s system and plays like a dummy when you can develop your own guy or bring in a guy who has exhibited the qualities you value?

I’m sure brady or garopollo didn’t inspire you in their draft years.
Top Ickes QBs have a better chance at success because at the time they are evaluated to be better but those evaluations clearly are just educated guesses.

I know he's made of glass but anyone be opposed to Sam Bradford as a decent Back-up who can start??
We already have a decent backup who can start. What makes Bradford a better value for that role than Hoyer?

My guy would be Josh Allen. Accurate with a very quick release reminiscent of Brady and JG. 6'5 too.

He won't be around when we pick though.

I though accuracy was the biggest knock on Allen? 56.3% completion is pretty crappy. My understanding is that it is much, much harder to complete passes in the NFL so this is the hardest thing for young QB's to improve on at the pro-level.

He has a few good things going for him. cannon whip. Proto size, big hands & wingspan. Can reset and make a good throw. Pure potential. His numbers look like a Ponder, Locker, Gabbert type player. I wouldn't say he' accurate at all, esp not under pressure/duress. Same goes for ball placement under pressure. Takes off too quick, 1/10 drop backs.

Thoughts on Lamer Jackson?
Gets 2-3 years learning under the GOAT

I'm a big fan and have brought up that idea many times. All for it!

Lamar Jackson & Kyle Lauletta are really intriguing. Esp in the 2nd.

Eli is not a good QB, but it's hard to tell if he truly is "done" based on last season. His OL was utter trash (probably the worst in the league) and he lost his top two wideouts to injury and had Sterling Shepard and a JAG unit as his receiving corps at the end of the season.

Getting back his surrounding cast, plus having Shurmur work with him, should lead to a bounce back season for Manning, while the QB the Giants draft takes a year to learn the NFL. If Eli doesn't bounce back, he'll make way for the rookie, just as Warner made way for him.

Back to the topic at hand, heard Breer say something yesterday about how Mayfield is a top 15 pick.. so unless we dupe Cleveland again, do not see him coming to the Patriots..

This guys not going to be around and even if he were, he doesn’t strike me as a “Belichick” type of player

Neither did Dillon or Moss at the time.

I think he could be incredible for us. Think he gets a lot of criticism for his pocket passing which is unfair as I think he has lots of potential, doesn’t seem he wants to run every play.

If he can sit under Brady he could be ridiculously good, him and Mason Rudolph are my two favourite QB prospects for this Draft. I’m not 100% sold on any others.

Stick to what we have, Jimmy G will sign a 3 year deal, they franchise him year 4, we give 49ers two firsts. Thats what I'm smok'in

You know, I’m thinking jimmy does come back after Tom retires. Wouldn’t surprise me at all. And there is a prescident for that. Marty b came back
