How do you know that? If he's the best out there in his first year, running his mouth, wrong so much, rooting for the opponent so openly, that is in no ways the best out there.

Sure. Moose Johnston is professional, knowledgeable, not annoying, understands the role and does a good job with no bias.

Do you want me to keep rattling off names who are clearly better and understand the the role more so than Tony the annoying tool? He's one of the most overpaid QBs ever for doing literally nothing and now he's a sucky color guy being a company man with pom poms drumming up rooting interests during the game, because CBS thinks it means something, and people like you defend it.

Well, you need some help then. Did you hate Madden and other knowledgeable commentators who showed no bias from decades gone by?

Madden was a terrific analyst in his early years. As he got older and further removed from his coaching career, he descended into pure schtick. Lots of telestrator breakdowns of tailgating food, precious little football analysis beyond lines like "put a hat on a hat." I still enjoyed listening to him, but kind of the way you enjoy listening to your grandpa tell the familiar old stories at the Thanksgiving table.

2017 T0ny Romo actually talks about the plays, formations and decision-making on the field. If you think he talks too much, yeah, ok, sometimes. He's like an exuberant puppy at times, but still the best I've heard in years.

You don't get paid to openly root for the other team from the second the whistle blows, and then make it so obvious, misleading the viewer. It happened again, just like all year and worse than last week.

The Lewis "fumble" was clearly not a fumble and there were other calls where he was openly rooting to see something that was not there, that would hurt the Pats.

The viewer is expected to believe the analyst and he has so much power, as he lies and misrepresents things.

Again, been watching this for 35 years have never seen a color analyst have such a disingenuous bias.

He's apparently the smartest guy in the room calling out things I call out and the way he uses that on screen marker to show what he thinks should be done, hoping he is right...? Yet, he was a mediocre QB who was so easily duped like Jay Cutler with the worst timed INTs this side of the Mississippi.

This is abomination. I have never seen a guy so awful at his craft as a rookie be praised, and I have no idea why Pats fans would ever support such a disgrace. Worst I have ever seen as a rookie commentator, possibly in all of sports.

PS God bless Amendola and the O Line, not to mention the D that shut the door again in the 4th qtr like they always do, keeping it to 20 points and under which as been the magic number in this offensive Goodell Era for a decade.

He and Nance are the cream of the crop...I love his voice, his enthusiasm and his insight and foresight...Calls out plays before they happen...Romo is a legend already and this man is just getting his feet wet. So, you are forced to listen to music or the sound completely off. Ok, fine. Some of us want to hear the sound effects and he just takes a massive dump on the microphone as he roots for the Pats opponent in this obvious, creepy fashion. Actually, they do get paid to openly root for a big underdog. For the network it's entertainment and if they compare Brady and the Patriots accomplishments to Jacksonville's [none, really] people will turn off their sets at any point where the Patriots lead.

If you want to hear a lopsided description of the underdog team each week, just listen to Belichick's press conferences. Every team is explosive, is great in all phases, has great coaches, etc.
