Central Thread For Mourning/Canonizing Jimmy Garoppolo

Serious question for people who say we should have traded Brady:

How many SBs would Brady have to win from this point on (aka since trading Jimmy G) to make you feel the Pats made the right move?

One championship? Two? Three?

Edit: Nunchucks, you seem to have disliked this post for some reason. Why not just give an answer instead?

Well they will have to really luck out with drafting the next QB. An interesting name could be bridgewater. Can he still play coming back from that serious knee injury?

When Brady retires after next year or the year after and NE has nada at the QB position, we'll revisit your statement.

I continue to be amazed at the people who cover their eyes and plug their ears and pretend Brady will be playing until the end of time.

Yes, JG will almost certainly never be as good as Brady. But "not as good as Brady but playing" is an infinitely better on-the-field player than "Was the GOAT but is retired."

So what's your solution? Franchise Jimmy G and pay him 24 million to sit on the bench while Brady retires 3 years from now? Jimmy G is no spring chicken - he's 26 and with this strategy he'll be 30 by the time he takes over for Tom. And if you decide to trade Brady, you basically trading the NFL MVP who has brought you 5 super bowls (maybe 6 at the end of this year).

And no one is saying Brady will be playing until the end of time. They realize he'll be done in 3-5 years.

And the silver lining is that maybe all the fake fans here will go away and bother the real fans of another franchise.

There is a silver lining to everything if you just think it though.

I thought I put you on ignore. wth.

No one's arguing Brady's achievements. Yes we know what he's done. It has more to do with the next 10-15 years. This was our Montana/Young situation, Farve/Rodgers. It may not sting much right now, but wait a couple years when Hoyer's our starting qb, bb retires (Would have stayed if he could have kept Jimmy) and Jimmy's winning in S.F. I have a feeling you'll be singing a different tune.
Brady had a legit shot at getting as many rings as Montana Young, Favre, and Rodgers combined

It' about being competitive after Brady. A franchise qb goes a long way towards that and the patriots traded a franchise qb for peanuts

Yep, Brady had accomplished more than anybody.

Jimmy took a 1 win team and beat one second best team in the afc, with style.

Anyone who thinks Brian Hoyer is going to be our starting QB in a few years probably isnt worth discussing football with.

OK, but I'm asking you a question. How many more SBs would Brady have to win to make you feel good with the decision to trade Jimmy G?

Are you saying there is no number that would make you happy? If Brady hypothetically wins 2-3 more you would still regret this decision?

The Garoppoloites never answer that question.

“AFTER brady” is the key phrase. Brady is still the best QB in the league. With Jimmy G, he would sit on the bench until he’s 28-29.

Some of you are cruel. To want Jimmy G to sit on the bench for several more years, and not get to play, and not get to go out and earn the millions he is capable of.

Why do that to Jimmy? Seems like a great guy etc. Such Jimmy haters here. Its kinda sad.

I am more focused on the trading him for half a sandwich

Gretzky ended up on another team, Orr ended up on another team, Jordan retired as a wizard for crying out loud. Montana retired as a chief.

If Kraft's plan was continued sustained success, he opted to go against that by not keeping Jimmy G.

Agre 100%. First Orr, then Gretzky, then Jordan, and now Jimmy Garrapolo has been traded.

The humanity

No one even thought of the children.

I’m thrilled w JG’s start. It’s really like watching the dream come true for a guy that deserved his shot. Now I have 2 NFC teams (unless we’re playing them,) SF and NO.

And I won’t sweat it one minute no matter what happens. We made our call.
