Central Thread For Mourning/Canonizing Jimmy Garoppolo

If Bob Kraft ever sobers up, he’ll realize that forcing BB to trade Jimmy JQ because he felt Brady was his fifth son, was a bigger mistake than running Parcells out of town to let Bobby Greer shop for the groceries.

It’s going to be painful to watch the 49rs win multiple Superbowls, knowing that They chas update have been ours.
And if we win another Super Bowl or two with Brady are we going to still call it an error if Jimmy G has a great career?

Not that you are actually a fan of the team or anything.

Very little is guaranteed salary in football. Say we just acquired Bennett who signed a 3 year deal with Green bay. We can keep him on his current deal for two more years or we can say good bye and he's free to negotiate with other teams for a new deal or he could sign a new deal with us if both parties want.
I wonder if you get any help from the new team, i mean if you get traded from new york to LA, you have to up sticks, sell the house and buy a new one, all the while not knowing how long you may be at the new team. Also i noticed a high school football game with the cowboys owners nephew and the crowd was 25000+ my god is this normal for high school? Thats more than some premier league teams.
Have a good un bud, merry christmas

Actually it was the English who came up with the word Soccer for European football.

European Football -> Rugby Football (Rugby England) -> US Rugby -> American Football

In England "Rugger" was short for Rugby football and "Soccer" was short for Association football.

The Real Reason Americans Call It 'Soccer' Is All England's Fault

You can blame us for dumping your tea but you can't blame us for the word soccer.

Hah hah!! Great stuff, Brother Tony!!

I've long laughed at the British tendency to refer to FootBall as "American" FootBall, as if it's some kind of "spin off" of "real" FootBall, that being implicitly British FootBall, which they've only recently come to refer to as simply "FootBall".

Of course both versions evolved simultaneously in the 19th century, so any British pretensions to being the "alpha" sport is just pathetic ********.

The Brits just can't stand it that their Soccer is too freaking boring to watch, and that we've not only got the cooler sport, but the cooler name.

The only truly bad scenario is if Garoppolo becomes a HOFer and the Pats can't find a comparable replacement for Brady. And if Brady does play at this level for another 3 or 4 years, it'll be hard to argue the trade was a mistake no matter what.

This is beyond stupid.

lmao

We will see how he turns out, as every DC in the league will now have loads of tape about what he does well and what he doesn't. I am hopeful and wish him all the luck in the world. He seems a natural leader. Remember though, Mirer was better than Bledsoe in year one but was worked out.

If Brady is retired in two years and Jimmy G is the guy who turned SF into a contender/winner we will look short sighted in getting rid of him, just like if SF had got rid of Young to ride Montana to death. But many 'if's' there.

Rick Mirer was never better than Bledsoe.

All I care about is JG playing very well tomorrow and helping my teAm.

Your limited number of posts is not the only reason why you're designated as a practice squad player.

Still a small sample size against a very weak schedule, bit early for the hype he's getting i'm expecting a bad week this week against Jacksonville.

Brady is good enough to win no doubt.. but most likely next season will be his last great season. All bets are off in 2019.

And if JG goes on to have a great career.. the Pats organization made the wrong decision. However I am ok with that.. Brady and Bill basically help build Gillette Stadium how the hell are you going to trade away a guy who has taken you to 7 Super Bowls.. we might suck for a couple years because of this loyalty but Brady deserves it.

Amazing hype but I'm glad for SF fans after enduring the last couple years of the CK saga.

My only concern with GQ is a possible lack of durability, will he find a way to get hurt like he did with the Pats.

The standard for any regret has to be Super Bowl successes plural and long career. Brady is hopefully getting 1 more SB. So Jimmy is great if it does not become championships it won't matter to me.

To keep repeating my point since the JG trade date: Even if Jimmy G ends up being a bust, the trade was reckless. The key reason is you have given away our crucial QB (equivalent of a medium grade NFL starter) Insurance for the 2017 Season, for the same price you would have gotten next Spring.

You think they would have got a high 2nd if they franchised him and traded?

I think they very well may have, but then we’d have had to free up around 23m dollars to do so as a placeholder. Wasn’t worth it. Still would’ve liked to have seen a little more thrown into the deal, but it is what it is now.

I was thinking that too, and I think this is right about the time where the tape starts to catch up with Jimmy. The Jags are going to be the litmus test to see what he is really made of. They are the first competent and pragmatic organization he's going to face, spearheaded by Tom Coughlin, and with a competent HC in Marrone. If anyone can expose his weaknesses and exploit them, it's going to be the Jags.
