Central Thread For Mourning/Canonizing Jimmy Garoppolo

The standard for any regret has to be Super Bowl successes plural and long career. Brady is hopefully getting 1 more SB. So Jimmy is great if it does not become championships it won't matter to me.

And even then only if the Pats can't find a comparable replacement.

I've changed the thread title, let's try consolidating all the talk about the 49ers QB here.

AGREE!!!
I'm not obsessed with JAG like many here mourning his departure, but I am rooting for his success as an ex-Patriot.
I like that he's doing well & turning heads.
THIS season he's relevant here as a thread because his performance affects our draft pick and he could if JAG > JAGWADS help us get a first round bye.
Saw him win the last game with a very Patriots drive against a playoff contender.

We will see how he turns out, as every DC in the league will now have loads of tape about what he does well and what he doesn't. I am hopeful and wish him all the luck in the world. He seems a natural leader. Remember though, Mirer was better than Bledsoe in year one but was worked out.

If Brady is retired in two years and Jimmy G is the guy who turned SF into a contender/winner we will look short sighted in getting rid of him, just like if SF had got rid of Young to ride Montana to death. But many 'if's' there.

This Tweet sums it up for me.

The tweet doesnt even go far enough

The good news for the Patriots is that BB seems pretty good at finding QBs. Ignoring his drafting of the GOAT in the 6th round.

For the past 10 years, other than Mallet, who didn't amount to anything:
UFDA Hoyer: 37 starts, probably only Browns starting QB with a winning record since they were reincarnated
7th round Cassel: Didn't even play in college. 81 NFL starts
3rd round Brisset: After one year behind Brady became Colts starter. 15 starts
late 2nd round JG: Division 2 college QB to future NFL HOFer

Does anyone have a better track record of finding an developing QBs?

Basically if BB ever picks a QB in the 1st(even high 2nd with the JG pick) and lets him set behind Brady you can pretty much start casting HOF bust.

The thing that'll make me laugh and laugh and laugh is if SF franchises JG for 2018, Brady wins the 2018 SB and then retires, JG and SF are unable to come to terms and he becomes a UFA and signs with NE, and has success with NE.

My Mrs actually said the exact same thing, like it could be a diabolical master plan by BB to gain a second rounder!!

I can hear BB's pitch right now..."Come back to NE and compete for a job and maybe we can get you Gilmore type money...plus all the left over concussion water you can drink"

Thank you... that seems like a great compromise.. instead of getting 1-2 threads per week about the great JG...

I hope Jimmy G doesn't win another game. We have a 2nd round pick riding on this.

I just wish there was a conditional pick clause inserted. Something like "If Jimmy wins the 2018 MVP the Pats get an extra 7th round pick."

Are we really going to be inundated by Jimmy highlights every week for the rest of his career?

Garrapolites: Get the F over it. Christ.
Ever since Tom got a chance to play in '01, it's been a ridiculous soap opera here...I do feel that Tom's proven, at least, that he's worth putting out there on the field. He's earned the chance to stay out there.

He gives the team its best chance to win.

This time around, we do have a head coach who's got things figured out. And BB is the one who brought Tom here in the first place.

Kraft got that one right, when he hired BB. It's one more than most owners do.

Happy for Jimmy. Best wishes.

Wow. On this post I hit the Patsfans Pick 6.

Winner, useful, like, dislike, disagree and an agree.

exactly.......well put, joey
Ass kissing again james87654? Coming from a guy who was banned for being an idiot and then coming back telling everyone how he wants to suck off a pro QB I wouldnt be saying much if I were you

Troll

Jimmy G is good but Brady is better. I bet Brady wins more post 2017 Super Bowls than Jimmy G does..

It seems like TB might be a better choice to keep the SB dreams alive. He dosent seem to be slowing down.

I am not sure how trading JG in the middle on the season "smashes the argument" of him being a valueable backup. The Pats were running out of time and figured several things:
1. TB is good to go
2. JG wants more than min wage
3. Tag was out of the questions
4. Take into consideration that (rumored) Cleveland was not ideal at all for JG and that SF would be better - taking into account that doing right by JG might pay of later.

Doing good by jimmy showed heart. I like that because I know a person who knows this lady who dates this guy who has a kid that knows this guy in cleaveland who knows a high priced whore who sleeps with a guy who knows someone in the front office who sweeps floors that over heard a conversation that the browns were offering more. Now, I know this is a convolluted post but I’m serious. The browns were willing to give up a number one but bill refused to send jimmy to the pound to be put to sleep even though it would be better for our team
