Time for Gronk to apologize to US

I thought this thread title was referencing the U.S., as in Gronk should apologize to America. Maybe that's next on ESPN's docket.

Nobody but Buffalo will remember this in a few weeks. His build up image wont take a hit from that unless it becomes a pattern.

Also he doesnt owe us fans anything. No reason to apologize.

And of everyone, the people of Buffalo should understand. He is from there after all, just Buffalo trash being Buffalo trash.

Seriously though, I agree. Remember that multi-year stretch where they insisted Vince Wilfork was dirty because he injured JP Losman while sacking him? I bet most of them don't even remember that anymore.

Was Gronk just informed of Ken's request?

Remember the times Patriots fans attending Bills games were assaulted, pelted with foreign objects, bullied and screamed at profanely ?

oh wait..."remember"...what the hell does memory have to do with it? It's a forgone conclusion for every game up there since 2001.

Please indulge me....I wish to make a small analogy...
Chad and his lovely wife Lucy come back to their Back Bay luxury condo after a splendid day beach combing the Cape. Over chocolatinis at Olives 5 star restaurant Chad says to his lovely professional wife Lucy.."say honey, what do you think about a move to Buffalo? we could buy a nice house for cheap along Bailey Avenue near Walden Avenue, park the Mercedes and the Land Rover in a driveway off the street for once and send the kids to PS 82 or PS 74 for a real quality education. Imagine weekend trips to beautiful Love Canal and all that wonderfully fluffy snow! What do you say, honey?"
The next morning LUcy filed for divorce and full custody of the kids, packed up and moved in with her parents in Westwood.

If there was no Barfalo one would have to be invented to illustrate what the ***hole of the country looks like.

That's no way to talk about Mississippi.

wow..got to say that I totally disagree with your post..fans burden? oh please. I wish people would just stop caring what the media thinks of the Patriots. I as a Pats fan do not care one bit what anyone in the media thinks. I barely listen to any of the crap..I just watch the games on Sunday. So many would be far better off if they did the same.

Gronk had a melt down. I can sympathize with WHY it happened, while at the same time I can never condone what he did. But like in all things in life there are consequences for your actions (existential theory), and here is just a partial list of what that momentary insanity has wrought.

It will cost him:

1. At least $230K in his one game paycheck, and up to $2.5MM in incentives he now might not make.

2. It is going to cost him millions more in off field money as his "lovable frat boy goof" image that he very carefully and skillfully built up over the last 7 years is being universally trashed by the sports media, and the negative criticism isn't going to end any time soon. Gronk is now a "bad guy".

3. There is now no way he's going to be the All Pro TE, even if his stats, impact, and blocking abilities are better than Ertz, Kelce, and Graham. That is another award that is media based and they are not going to give it to a guy who committed what is being viewed as a heinous act.
Which also impact one of his incentives

4. He has opened himself up to even more cheap shots from his opponents who, being whipped up by this media frenzy, will feel enabled to give him back what he "dished out"

5. When he now goes into a game the refs will be looking even MORE closely at everything he does...and a few things he does not. There will be no sympathy or breaks for Gonk in the near future, and that directly affects the chances for HIS team to win games.

So his personal consequences could be huge, but that is not what this thread is about

What it costs US

1. For the last 2 months almost all but the most ardent haters have grudgingly come around to giving the Pats the kind of respect that this team and organization deserves. Key injuries? Doesn't matter to the Pats. They can make anyone into a contributor. Deflategate was being viewed as the screw job it was by the casual fan, and even the national media repeated that message (grudgingly)

Well over the last 3 days that "era of good feeling" is GONE. All the haters are back with a vengeance and even the more moderate media, smelling blood in the water, are gladly piling on. Here is a great chance to trash the Pats and there isn't even a question of innocence like with Brady. Gronk is guilty as charged. We have it on tape and we will be playing it every chance we get.

Now that is a burden that WE as ardent fans have to bear, and it was TOTALLY unnecessary. I am really pissed at Gronk and I feel the need for him to know the DEPTH of what his actions have caused BEYOND his own image and wallet. And to that end I expect a sincere apology, not only to TWhite, but to US as well. He has made every Pats fan's life just a little darker and harder to deal with. So instead of enjoying this great 8 game run to the playoffs, talking football and future prospects, we now have to deal with haters (more than usual) and mediot pukes looking to make hay off an incident like this.

Here's hoping that when he returns to the fold next Monday, that there will be the apology that I'm looking for and not only to White, his teammates, and the organization. But one to the fans who have stood behind him and this team for decades.

Right, because this hasn't got enough attention and hasn't been blown out of proportion enough.

I know. Some of the media have the audacity to claim that Gronk elbowed the dude for God's sake.....:D

Just kidding...just kidding. :D

Gronk also announced today that next he will be cutting Medicare, Medicaid and Welfare, and will be raising the retirement age foe social security

He is one of the very few who actually apologized right after the game for a play like that.

He has also played here for eight seasons at way below market value and given 1000% through chronic injuries (many of which are so part of his body now they don’t even put it in the injury report), and been one of the most unselfish superstars in sports. Do you see Gronk grumbling about money or not getting enough targets ever?

He made a mistake. It was an emotional mistake that happened in a moment that he would like to have back. I’ll take that over a calculated holdout, airing out dirty laundry on social media, or just being a general piece of crap, entitled athlete, which many of these guys are.

This whole thing is an overblown media stirred debacle.

What Gronk did was wrong, and a cheap shot, but it was in the heat of the moment. For the entire game he was being held and the refs never called it. Gronk is an emotional player.

That being said I don't think we will see a repeat of this. He has never had a history of being a dirty player.

It's not like watching a Burfict do something like that, because the dude will routinely try to injure players on purpose, and he has done it his whole career.

Gronk got his suspension, he will lose the paycheck for that game, he will be contrite, and he will learn from it.

I'm sure that BB has already handled this issue behind closed doors. I don't see Gronk as the type of guy who will continue this type of behavior. He has had the time to reflect and I think he will grow from it.

Let's be real PFK, the haters were going to find reasons to hate the Pats regardless of anything. The whole reason this issue has been inflated so much is simply because Gronk wears a New England jersey on his back. If he plays for any other team it barely gets airplay.

And NO, this didn't cost us anything. The Patriots are still going to be the most hated team. When Harrison was playing for us he was voted most dirty player by his peers. And he played defense so of course he was continually going to be involved in plays where people could take offense. Gronk plays offense. Besides handfighting/pushing off against defenders, what could conceivably result in another personal foul for him in the future? Very unlikely.

Let's put this behind us. After having a serious closed doors meeting, I'm sure that BB, the Pats, and Gronk have done that already.

Players owe their coaches, family and teammates. They don't owe the fans a damn thing. There is zero loyalty and most Pats fans will turn on him the second he leave. They don't play for us.

Just like they turned on Bruschi, McGinest, Brown, Hannah, Clay, Vrabel, Wilfork, Faulk, Nink, .................

I'd continue but fear carpal tunnel
