Time for Gronk to apologize to US

Gronk had a melt down. I can sympathize with WHY it happened, while at the same time I can never condone what he did. But like in all things in life there are consequences for your actions (existential theory), and here is just a partial list of what that momentary insanity has wrought.

    It will cost him:

    1. At least $230K in his one game paycheck, and up to $2.5MM in incentives he now might not make.

    2. It is going to cost him millions more in off field money as his "lovable frat boy goof" image that he very carefully and skillfully built up over the last 7 years is being universally trashed by the sports media, and the negative criticism isn't going to end any time soon. Gronk is now a "bad guy".

    3. There is now no way he's going to be the All Pro TE, even if his stats, impact, and blocking abilities are better than Ertz, Kelce, and Graham. That is another award that is media based and they are not going to give it to a guy who committed what is being viewed as a heinous act.
Which also impact one of his incentives

    4. He has opened himself up to even more cheap shots from his opponents who, being whipped up by this media frenzy, will feel enabled to give him back what he "dished out"

    5. When he now goes into a game the refs will be looking even MORE closely at everything he does...and a few things he does not. There will be no sympathy or breaks for Gonk in the near future, and that directly affects the chances for HIS team to win games.

So his personal consequences could be huge, but that is not what this thread is about

    What it costs US

    1. For the last 2 months almost all but the most ardent haters have grudgingly come around to giving the Pats the kind of respect that this team and organization deserves. Key injuries? Doesn't matter to the Pats. They can make anyone into a contributor. Deflategate was being viewed as the screw job it was by the casual fan, and even the national media repeated that message (grudgingly)

Well over the last 3 days that "era of good feeling" is GONE. All the haters are back with a vengeance and even the more moderate media, smelling blood in the water, are gladly piling on. Here is a great chance to trash the Pats and there isn't even a question of innocence like with Brady. Gronk is guilty as charged. We have it on tape and we will be playing it every chance we get.

Now that is a burden that WE as ardent fans have to bear, and it was TOTALLY unnecessary. I am really pissed at Gronk and I feel the need for him to know the DEPTH of what his actions have caused BEYOND his own image and wallet. And to that end I expect a sincere apology, not only to TWhite, but to US as well. He has made every Pats fan's life just a little darker and harder to deal with. So instead of enjoying this great 8 game run to the playoffs, talking football and future prospects, we now have to deal with haters (more than usual) and mediot pukes looking to make hay off an incident like this.

Here's hoping that when he returns to the fold next Monday, that there will be the apology that I'm looking for and not only to White, his teammates, and the organization. But one to the fans who have stood behind him and this team for decades.

Nobody but Buffalo will remember this in a few weeks. His build up image wont take a hit from that unless it becomes a pattern.

Also he doesnt owe us fans anything. No reason to apologize.

I think its time everyone moves on, though Buffalo is allowed to hate him if they want even though we all know they likely already did.

Gronk was wrong and I can't say that enough. He snapped and went psycho for a split moment and I can understand if some Patriots fans are disgusted by him. Though, I am moving on as we all make mistakes and understand no human is perfect.

Yeah, Gronk lured out the haters again, but tbh they never left.

hey...I like this idea! I got an idea for another addition to the the Joe Kerr Pantheon of Successful Cons...The U. O. Mee Society of Totally Unreasonable Demands.

As the first action of this new going concern I demand that all of you give ME everything I've ever seen on TV for the past 40 years...except for that dream date in kneepads with Paul Williams...yuck.

He apologized immediately after the game. Are we like BOB Ryan where going to criticize the apology? Time for everyone to move on.

Even with this being the Patriots and even with this being high profile player, Gronk, once this weekend's game are played the story will be staler than 3 day old bread. And with the exceptions of the rematch against the Bills that will cause some mentions/chats, and outside of odd threads like this (created to ask for a personal apology?) it already is closer to old news than anything.

This is football, the modern day Coliseum and Circus Maximus. Do people really not know what is sometimes going on out there on the field, outside camera view, in the trenches, under the pile? This is the classic case of loving the steak but appalled to find out a slaughter house exists. (yea! did you see that massive hit [legal] that slammed that player and jarred the ball lose? yea!!). Yes, what goes on regularly, Gronk certainly took too far. And he has been punished exorbitantly especially given cheap shots aren't rare. And cheap shots happen in many forms, trauma to human bodies happen all over the place in many forms as normal course of football business, violence is standard, emotions run high and violence gets escalated sometimes very highly, and that's all part of the proverbial slaughter house. Get over yourselves if you are a fan of all this yet stand on such an extremely lofty perch of moral high ground over Gronk.

BS. Players on defense pile jump or go for head shots as players are falling all the time. Far harder than gronk's hit. Big deal he lost his cool. On a little weasel who held twice and pushed off and was rewarded with a pick for his effort. That's the real crime.

Flag? Sure. Fine? Maybe. Suspension? Ridiculous. Outrage by his own fans? Disgusting.

I’m going to chalk this one up to old age and a late night, Ken. ;)Gronkowski is already losing enough as it is for a very simple “heat of the moment” type of mistake. He’s paying dearly for his millisecond lapse in judgement. He doesn’t owe us fans a thing.

Now...I reserve the right to change my mind and dig this thread up if they blow the game on Monday night.

    Who cares about 'the haters'?

The only time I gave a damn was when people were questioning the legitimacy of the Patriots success. That obviously pisses me off.

That they're piling on Gronk and the Pats? Who cares? The majority of the country hates the Pats to begin with.

Life is not a little darker, and the good feeling of an eight game winning streak is not gone. This is silly, Ken.

If he balls out the way he did Sunday every game until the Super Bowl that’s good enough for me.

If Gronk gets 75% of that type of production every game until the SB, we will have an excellent shot at a repeat.

The Patriot Hate never really goes away. It hibernates for periods of time, but it's always sort of bubbling below the surface ready to blow like a volcano. When emotional!y-charged matters such as concussions, the anthem, race and the current political climate are mixed in, you end up with the type of volatile and combustible atmosphere which exists now. For a myriad of reasons, the Patriots become a very convenient fall guy for all sorts of issues with which they really have little, or no, relationship.

We have a USEFUL icon, but can we add a USELESS one? Maybe it could be the same as the useful one, but with a circle with a line through it.

I suspect he will say something next week after he returns and if he does not, no big deal. His allegiance is to the team, not the fan.
