Brian Hoyer reunion? [UPDATE: Hoyer signs 3 year contract]

Interesting wrinkle. 3 year deal. May give them some leeway to draft a young QB next draft or the one after depending on who’s available so the kid isn’t necessarily pressed into the backup spot in year 2 if he’s not ready.

Maybe a sign that Hoyer nabbed a decent signing bonus to spread out? Surely they'll still be targeting a QB in the draft.

Quite possible. I'm intrigued by the contract details.

Like you, I expect them to continue the QB pipeline, but I'm not sure that they'll need to draft a player this upcoming year. Brady and Hoyer are signed for multiple years, so I could see the Patriots waiting to get their guy. I'm not 100% sold on any of the quarterbacks this draft cycle, including the top guys, so it may be prudent to wait a year, anyway.

Brady wasn't going anywhere...ever. Until he decides to retire. BB retires shortly after in my view. Both have earned that right

I wouldn't be surprised if BB retires before Brady. He is 65 after all. If Brady wants to play for 5 more years, does BB really want that rigorous schedule until he's 70?

I say BB coaches for 3 more years and Brady plays until he's 45

Three years? That's pretty interesting. I expected two years.
I'll wait to see the fine print, but one thing is for sure: the Pats are all-in with a healthy Brady this year and probably next.

Very glad we were able to sign him. I was worried that another QB needy team was going out-bid us.

Unless things fall apart, BB would be close to the all time record for most wins. I imagine that it would be tough to walk away from the chance to break that record.

Great signing, you can't have a much better backup than Hoyer who since left New England, acquired great experience and playing time (some concussions too) playing all around the league, and he is familiar with the system and he is a good guy. He's made some money too and know that he is a backup and not a starter.

Let's hope he has a Chunglike revival!

Smart move by the Pats, apparently the packers called looking to sign him.

another thing to point out, is that now that Hoyer has been in multiple NFL systems, this will greatly improve his primary role as the scout team QB.

Seemed inevitable, but also appears to be the safest move.

Welcome back Brian Hoyer...now let's try to get you a ring or two:)

The GOAT backup QB. Welcome back.

I think Kap's bigger issue is his lack of dedication to his craft. I doubt if he has spent any time recently staying in shape and/or improving his skills. BB doesn't take kindly to players who don't take their craft seriously.

I agree. I can guarantee Kaep has been more busy being an SJW than staying in shape or watch a single minute of tape.

According to the newsfeed above Packers tried to

Yeah kinda surprised, you'd have to think he has a better shot of getting snaps there.

But maybe he decided to embrace the backup role in an organization he knows and apparently likes after years of trying to make it work elsewhere.

Kaepernick's certainly no superstar or even a particularly good starting QB but he's far and away better than Hoyer,
