I'm not a doctor, but I have two ****ed up shoulders, and just went through a battery of **** on my right shoulder last week.
X-Ray right away is routine to rule out fractures, which would be unusual. What's still on the table are torn rotator cuffs, torn labrums, and AC joint injuries. In my case, I've been able to move my arm the way Hogan did on the bench, but I have a torn rotator cuff and torn labrum. I can throw a football (sometimes very weakly) and can lift my arms to make catches (not above my head though), but about 70% of the time, it's going to hurt like hell.
It may have nothing to do with Hogan's injury, but it's all a wait-and-see process if my experience is anything to go off of. Mine is not bad enough that it absolutely requires surgery, but I've got a six week battery of physical therapy to do and if it doesn't improve, then it's surgery for me.
For what it's worth, I'm being treated at Walter Reed, so I'd call it a major league facility.
