Ian Eagle (play-by-play), Dan Fouts (analysis) and Evan Washburn (sideline) on CBS call for Patriots-Chargers game Sunday.

Can't we ever get a break from these guys!!!!!!!

They all bother me so it doesn't matter which crew it is.

The solution for me is to turn down the volume to the perfect setting, about 5 or 6, so that I can't hear what they're saying but the crowd and refs' calls can still be heard.

I think the problem is NE right now is considered the second or third best AFC team so we are always stuck with CBS’ B team.
I think the situation is the Patriots are the top draw in the AFC so they always get the #1 or #2 team of whatever network they are on. I don't think Pittsburgh can say that and I know KC can't.

There are many times when I’ll see something in the game from the other room before my wife will, and we have the same channel on. I have to hold my cheers or groans until after she’s seen it. It’s just hard to get things synched up right. Good luck.

Maybe this will help....

Well, the reality is that the Chargers can't fill a 35,000 seat stadium and the Patriots play in a town with a population of 17,000. So, really, if a Dan Fouts blathers like a bitter old idiot, and no one is there to hear it, does he make a sound?

If only you could watch the game in the same room!

Well, that would certainly solve the issue, but she’s a Cowboys fan and sometimes they’re on at the same time, so she’s a constant channel flipper. I’ll get up to get something out of the kitchen and end up seeing something happen on the other TV, knowing I’m going to hear an “aww, ****” within the next second or two.

I used to have a friend who liked to try and listen to Myron Cope’s radio call for the Steelers game instead of the TV broadcasters, but he’d have the same issue in terms of having problems getting synched up to the current play.

Don't they sell audio delay thingies that you can plug your radio into so you can delay it to make it match the TV broadcast?
And if the TV is ahead (with all the signal processing in HD these days I don't think that ever happens anymore) you could just do a quick pause-play on your DVR.

Good to know for others who wish to match up the call. The DVR pause would give you that extra 1-2 seconds. I’ve never used an audio delay device, so I don’t know much about that.

Definitely have high quality HD on both of my downstairs TVs, so there is certainly a delay from one room to the next, and it’s longer than you’d think. I’m going to guess at least 1-1.5 seconds.

On defense, the Patriots need to concentrate on stopping both the run and the pass while keeping points off the board.

On offense, I think it’s imperative that they try to score points on every drive and have positive plays both on the ground and through the air.

So, on D, stop the run and the pass and don't allow points.

On offense, score a lot points, pass and run well.

Excellent game plan.

J/K - you (usually) make great posts.

Omg it's the Chargers-Fouts deadly combo. How many times will the ASJ fumble be brought up anytime a Chargers OL has a false start as if it's some sort of conspiracy?

The Chargers 3 game hot streak:

Offense*:
Giants game: Pass 258 Run 124
Raiders game: Pass 263 Run 80
Broncos game: Pass 162 Run 80
*Major stat to note: 7 takeaways, 2 giveaways

Stats overview (again, just their 3 game win streak): the Chargers don't run the ball particularly well but they have modest success from the air. Their D appears to be relatively solid with a good ability to get to the QB but a rushing D that isn't an iron curtain. Generally the stats suggest the Chargers are on this winning streak by not giving up easy scores, not turning it over but getting turnovers, and overall not allowing any facet of their game to hurt them/let the game get away from them.

Sunday Outlook: This will not be the Patriots' D's toughest test. Provided the beginning of the season's big play debacle is officially fixed, the expectation for Chargers' scoring is a low end 13 and a high end 20 (turnovers being the wildcard). The biggest key to the game appears to rest firmly on the Patriots OL. Opening holes for the nest RBC in the league as well as keeping TB's jersey relatively clean should equal something in the range of a 24 to 13 Patriot victory. If the OL plays poorly the Chargers could get the upset 20 to 17 victory.

I look forward to your analysis of the special teams matchup.
A bit more complicated. On the kickoff unit, I think we need to try to touchbacks. Understandably, that doesn’t always happen so their returner should be tackled immediately. The Pats should attempt to tackle him before he gets to the 20.

On the punting unit I expect Allen to put some emphasis on pinning them inside the 5 yard line.

On the field goal unit, I wouldn’t be surprised if they stressed to Gostkowski that he needs to at least try to make all of his field goals in this one. Definitely going to be a challenge there.

On the return units? Call me crazy but I see them going for big returns that lead to touchdowns every time. It’s a bold strategy but I think the situation coupled with what the Chargers are doing on the kickoff and punt units will call for it.

JMO.

My hope is that they show the Troy Brown strip-fumble recovery in the 2006 playoffs that snatched victory from the jaws of defeat. LaDainian Tomlinson whined like a Dookie in the press conference after that one. That ought to send Dan Fouts for the jug of grain alcohol he keeps under his chair in the press box.
