Shock
The overall sense of negativity in response to the cutdown day. ....
Should be expected. There's no GDT this weekend, so it has to get out somehow.

....

In regards to blown draft picks, perception is relative to pick number. Yes, we can look to blown opportunities in the form of ...Jacoby Brisset and maybe Cyrus Jones. To do this is to ignore ... the high round talent we have acquired via trade at low price (Rowe, VanNoy, Dorsett, Marsh). Think of it this way, had Flowers been picked in round 2, and Richard in round 4, we'd be singing a very different tune about the 2015 draft.

....
So Brissett was a blown opportunity traded for high round talent at a low price?

That doesn't sound like a blown opportunity, more like one that paid off differently than originally expected.

That certainly is the view of Weiss and Reiss.

Would you agree they are wrong?
Their position is that we got reasonable value for drafting and developing Brisette.
I don't think that they were wrong.

If you're asking whether Brissett was a reasonable prospect to be a starting quarterback for the patriots, then I certainly agreeing that believing that was an error.

Karras will be back on the Roster as soon as they process the players going to IR. None of that was done yesterday..

If he clears waivers, I hope you're right.

I misunderstood. I thought you meant they said he was a blown opportunity

Plus, a QB with composure that delivered in an emergency.

Surprise
It seems that we are so knowledgeable about the quality of backup OL on all 32 teams that we are capable of evaluating and ranking the quality of Fleming, Waddle and Croston. It may not be an inspiring group, but few backup OL are.

I think it's worth remembering just how bad college OL are, these days.

They spend their entire time in the shotgun spread, rarely/never learn proper technique, and when they come to the NFL, they have no idea what they're doing.

Again and again, we hear NFL OL coaches lamenting the current state of college offensive linemen.

I think the Patriots have taken a multi-pronged approach to dealing with this famine:

  • Draft/sign players from schools with elite OL coaches, e.g. Iowa and Florida State, even if they don't have all the measurables
  • Draft lots of OL in the mid/late rounds of the draft, and see who sticks.
  • Take a chance on athletic potential, and see if Dante Scarneechia can coach them up.

Cole Croston was out of Iowa, Tre' Jackson and Bryan Stork were both out of Florida State a few years ago. Shaq Mason, on the other hand, was a super-athletic run-blocking guard at Georgia Tech, and Dante's turned him into a top-level NFL guard.

This is exactly what people were saying after the KC game in 2014, they have won two Lombardi since then and have the best record in football since then. They allowed the fewest points in football last season.

News flash, the fans don't know 1/1000 of what Belichick and his coaches do regarding football and personnel, those who think they know better are mentally ill.

NEWS FLASH: pinkhats are so embarrassing with their blind fanboy silliness.

Hey Ivan, you think the Patriots D will allow the fewest points in the NFL THIS season?? You probably do....

What's the matter Mazz, you still pissed that they came back in the Super Bowl?

I'll bet your nanny was fearing for her life when she went to wake you Monday morning after the Super Bowl and had to break the news that the Patriots had come back and won.

We need a backup SS. Richards could be replaced today.
Richards seems like a perfect Belichik guy "off the field". Unfortunately, his "on the field" play is simply not NFL Caliber
