Not that part, the other part! Angst with U of M. Fundraiser trying to syphon money from Tom.

Yeah I thought of that after I posted it. Left it just in case.

@NG Pats Fan

Just to be clear. That's not what he said.

He wasn't grading player vs player. Or saying Hogan sucked. Or saying Amendola was better. He was talking about positional responsibility vs positional responsibility and which would be tougher to replace.
He is still wrong.

No let's give Cannon credit here. He's always been naturally very strong, and talented. Scar helped a lot, but Cannon simply got better and reached his potential

Even scar can't fix lineman like waddle and Fleming.
Cannon has only been good when Scranecchia has coached him regardless of his own natural ability. He was very good then he sucked (when Scar was gone) and then he was good again. Scar helps him realize his natural ability. That's what my post was about. You interpreted it in a way that suggests I was not giving Cannon credit, but that was your interpretation, not what I actually was saying or even alluding to. So saying Scar is the reason for his improvement is not an indictment on Cannon. Some coaches just know how to push the right buttons. The whole offensive line was better last season compared to 2014 AND especially 2015 (though injuries were also a factor).

Some players suck regardless of who is coaching them, so Waddle and Fleming have nothing to do with anything.

He looked bad in chasing down plays ok as a 2 run stopper.
Don't trust him covering Christian Fauria in space though.

They put him in various positions. He held the edge both left and right effectively. He dropped back in coverage as the mike (I think) and he covered up a RB coming out in the flat decently.

But it was a preseason game. I didn't see any bad plays but wasn't really focused on him either.

What do you mean? Link?
It was that really good ESPN article about when Tom went to Michigan during his suspension. We had a big thread on it. You'd have to dig for it.

I liked the way you put that. I would say Jules is the body shots and White/Lewis are the jabs. Hogan is the low blow the ref doesn't see haha.

Hogan in this offense has the role of being the guy who kills you if you focus too many guys on Gronk/Cooks/Jules.

2v1 Gronk down the seam... pass to Hogan
Cheat up on the underneath to Edelman... pass to Hogan
Cheat your safety too much to Cooks... pass to Hogan

He will have his chances to make big plays. Personally I can picture a a few times he is left uncovered entirely cause a defender sees Cooks and Gronk and runs up to try to stop the pass to them. I could see Hogan breaking the record on YPR this year if that happens too much. When Gronk was in there he was around 20.. Add Cooks and a few broken plays and we could be looking at 25 or close to it.

Providing everyone is healthy and the o-line is doing its job 98% of the time, there are gonna be guys wide open or 1:1s all the time.

Lets face it, if the Pats play their game.......defenses are f___ked.

Woo! Thank Jeebus!

Wow. returning to the thread hours later . feels almost like a present.

almost sounds made up..;)

1. something Patriots injury related comes out . and on the same day!
2. contains the word “optimistic“
3. contains the phrase “avoided significant injury“

still, glad to see it

Well if he is it's not by much. I liked the argument.
Wrong by as much as you can be. Without Amendola the 4 top WRs would play. Without Hogan, Amendola would have to play.
Hogan is better. The idea that Amendola has a role other than WR5 is inaccurate.

Lets not recognize the severe foot injury that had him playing on virtually one leg.

Not to mention....

Pats have luck on their side when it comes to the young DEs.

I guess that's the same reason he also sucked in 2014, huh? I guess he didn't suck in 2015 before the foot injury? Interesting.

I'm not about to get into anything with you, man. I never said Cannon didn't have natural ability. But the fact is he was awful in spot duty in 2014 and awful before and (understandably) after injury in 2015, and that was the story for the whole line. My point was and is Scar makes a big difference and that's evident. Anything else is just noise and I've got better things to do.

Yes, the injury he had in 2015 affected his play in 2014.
Sorry, you want to make a point you like and pretend its real and ignore the facts. I
lll leave you to that.

Glad that concussions are taken more seriously now . but wasn't really worried about Wise after seeing slow-mo. And after seeing him so confident on the line I am actually at peace w him missing a couple of weeks of bloodbath considering his inj. history and need at position. He's very intelligent and mature, no worries about him really other than his joints..

I thank you for leaving it at that. The FACT is that even BB talks about him playing with lack of technique AND being out of shape in 2015 before the injury. I'll take his word for it over yours, though you definitely know it all. LOL
