Where is this madness of trading Hogan coming from?

Jules. Age
DA. Age
Cooks. 2 years left on deal but looks to be staying long term
Mitchell. knees of a 46 years old man.

Folks need to see the big picture.

What looks like depth today may not be depth tomorrow.

Sure there are concerns. I am not saying they have to trade Hogan I am saying if a decent deal came along. Yes there are concerns in coming years if you do. I am focused a lot on this year and this year you have overflowing talent at WR and are thin at DE and OT depth. I wouldn't desperately look to trade away Hogan for anything I could get. I am simply saying it is a possibility I would consider if the return is reasonable and at a spot I think is more of a need this year.

Not me, I said I would not trade hogan at all. Bob Digital suggested it for a DE

You think sorry is gonna cut it? Just who do you think you are buddy? Posting a tweet that was posted in this thread already. You think you are some kind of big shot who can post whatever you like without getting the okay from me? I don't know what kind of wishy washy forums you have been on but we got rules here see?

We all know that person is @AtomicDawg ...

Hogan is easier to replace than Amendola. Cooks and to some extend Mitchell can take over Hogan's routes whereas apart from Edelman there is nobody that can do Dola's job. It is that easy.

Ok, I respect your opinion but we are not on the same page here. I consider hogan more valuable to the patriots right not than Amendola, and harder to replace

Cooks is a separate WR than hogan, cooks is our number 1. I would argue hogan last year proved himself one of the best deep threats in the game, teaming him up with cooks on the outside opens up the underneath for Edelman and Gronkowski and Cooks too when he's lined up there. And hogan will get his share of big plays as well.

Hogan is out clear cut number 3 WR. 700 yards last year, 180 yards 3 TD in the afc championship game. So very productive in the regular season and postseason.

He's much younger than Amendola, taller, faster, stronger, and more productive. Amendolas clutchness is offset by the fact hogan is clutch too. And Amendola right now is on the wrong side of 30 and more injury prone.

I get what you are saying. All reasonable.

Perhaps if there was a killer deal for Hogan out there for a kick-ass pass rusher I guess it would need to be considered.

With that said, while the team has quality depth at WR, once you get past Jules, Cooks and Hogan, with DA and MM being a bit fragile, that scares me.

Hogan is very much needed.
Cooks
Edelman
Hogan

Behind them are injury prone players.
Trade Hogan, if Mitchell and/or Amendola goes down and you are incredibly thin.
At the end of last season they were both out. Do you really want to be using a practice squad#3?

Apart from Edelman..

Here we go again.
That damn truth again.

I don't understand how any of what you have written explains why in your opinion Amendola's role is easier replaceable than Hogan's. But whatever, this discussion is pointless anyway because nobody will trade any of the two anyway.

Amendola will get you nothing though. His talent is maximized in this system with Brady as a spot player. Everyone knows it. There is no point trying to trade him as you will get bad value for the asset you give up.

Also I hate to harp on this fact but I don't see how you can consider Hogan untouchable. Is there literally no one or nothing you would trade him for besides multiple first round picks? I don't mean to jump down your throat. I am just saying it is worth considering and he is not some amazing player who if we lose we take a massive shot to our super bowl chances.

Hogan last year caught 38 balls for 680 yards. That is a good year. It was mostly without Gronk and without Cooks here. Add those 2 in for 16 games and he sees less passes.

In the end i think we are talking about a player who sees 30 receptions on this team. To say we can't spread that out to Mitchell/Amendola and other pieces to me is just not accurate.

I agree with your first part.

Hogan is only traceable in my eyes if you get an incredible return offer. Otherwise, I would hold on to him.

Injuries happen at the WR position. I love the idea of having 5 dependable WRs on our roster

I also love the idea of 2 lethal deep threats on the field hogan and cooks, with two deadly underneath guys on the field Edelman Gronkowski. Makes our offense unstoppable

Nobody is going to trade a good pass rusher for Hogan.

I think if the Patriots traded anyone, it would be Mitchell. A lot of teams would undoubtedly be interested in him, moreso than anyone else mentioned (Amendola, Hogan.) However, unless the trade was for another rising player at a position of need, I don't see the value. I doubt the Patriots would even get a second round pick in return (only three years left on rookie deal), so it doesn't make much sense trading him for a draft pick. I do wonder if they've considered trading Mitchell for a young, talented defensive lineman or edge rusher. I like Mitchell, but I dont't think his talents will be maximized here, due to the incredible depth at WR, unless there are injuries.
