Great signing now if Tatum or Brown stets up this Team will be a beast in the East. Golden State showed that you don't need a Elite or Good Center to win anymore you can do it with a bunch of Small Forwards and Guards. Hayward - IT - Tatum and a improved Brown puts this Team over the Top. Celtics need consistent guys who can fill it up Bradley and Crowder though great defenders are very streaky shooters.

How true. Recently, I've been thinking about the David Price situation and I have thought for long time that he's far too thin-skinned to make it in this market. But, the high irony, to me, is the local media deriding him for being thin-skinned, when many of them are at least as hyper-sensitive to criticism as he is. Funny thing is the Celtics match up much better against the Warriors than the Cavs. Sports are all about matchups.

Hayward and the emergence of Brown will have a major impact In the playoffs. @ wing guys who can hit the 3 is a big deal and will make IT4 much more effective, even though he is still a defensive liability.


IT4, Horford, Hayward, Tatum and Brown is a lot of firepower compared to last year, then you add Bradley, Rozier, Smart to the mix.

I don't see Crowder here next year cap casualty.

This signing doesn't change anything. Celtics still lack that bona fide MVP type superstar. I don't see one future HOF player on this team and tell me the last time a team without one made the finals.

They'll be contending for the next years but I don't believe you can win a championship when Horford, Hayward IT4 are your max players.

Accept the reality….bonafide NBA superstars will not take their talents to Boston, MA via free agency. (sorry Gordon)
The Celtics can either get a superstar by trading off all their draft assets and hope the player feels the charm of subzero Boston…while playing with such quality depth as Zeller, Johnson, Jerebko.
Or….the Celtics can use their bounty of draft assets in hopes of drafting the next superstar or two or three and cultivating their talents during successful regular season campaigns and deep playoff runs.

Great players…like Butler, George, Wall, etc….have accomplished nothing on top heavy teams with garbage depth.
The Celtics are on their way to 60 wins while maintaining a pipeline of potential no team in the NBA can match

I don't get the "why bother" attitude because a jump-shooting team on the west coast is kicking ass these days. Money issues will weaken GS sooner rather than later. And Cleveland has their own unique set of issues that could bring major changes sooner rather than later as well.

Hayward and Tatum just pushed Zeller, Johnson, and Kelly O off the roster. Huge win win for the Green Team. In 2018, a high draft pick should bring a quality big man finally who will fill their last great void….for years.
I just wish I lived in Boston for the next decade. This rebuild will be nothing like Ainge's Big 3 era…an era short on years given the age of the foundation pieces. This new era will have legs…young legs ready to exploit the ancient pieces scattered around the league.

I just agreed with two previous posts of yours but disagree on this one. I love the role Marcus Smart plays behind Avery Bradley and IT. He's an enforcer, rebounder and superior defensive talent who can guard the 1, 2 or 3. Smart is what makes the Celtics defensive depth formidable. I expect Jaylen Brown to take another step in his development as the defensive forward. Smart is a favorite of mine on this particular team.

I am glad you mentioned Abdel Nader in a previous post. He's another tough young defender that figures into a ten-deep rotation that doesn't let up defensively. IT is the least of the defenders on this team, but who cares? His offense puts so much pressure on oppponents, especially late in games.

I think the Celtics beat the Cadavaliers in 7 next year.

Irving is clutch and still improving but his perimeter defense is pathetic.

Price doesn't have the personality to live under the microscope. FWIW, I don't either. He has tried to have fun with the fans with his tweets etc.. but has trouble with trolls. The media drives that agenda. They love having an easy target. The sheople fans follow suit.

Price has not lived up to his contract but that's not because of a lack of effort. Hopefully he'll turn things around. He seems like a decent guy with talent but , as you say, folds under pressure.

It's your opinion but I think it's crazy to have Marcus Smart anywhere near the bottom of that list. Yes he can drive us crazy with atrocious three point shooting but he also plays with a ton of hustle and great defense. He is passionate, overly so at times but overall I like it. Very good bench player, I'd like him to stick around.

Portland is in salary cap jail. Trade Bradley, Crowder and Smart to them for CJ McCollum. He is 6'4, 25 yrs old and has same or better FG% as IT. Portland can then decide after watching AB and Smart who they want to pay/keep next yr., while Crowder's contract is fairly cheap.
