I think they traded out of the 7th to move up.

That's it folks. We traded our 7th rounder. On to 'day 4'.

Don't think they had anything else to give unless it was a future pick. Ah, well. It was a pretty good draft.

Conor McDermott, very nice

YES. I love McDermott. Throw out the stupid couple of reps against Garrett. I compared him to Solder since last year. He's a very good player, and should never have gotten out of the 3rd.

I guess that's one way to maximize the chance that they have a replacement for Solder next year.

McDermott has a lot of Nate Solder traits. As I think a few have mentioned here, I'm not super wild about these really tall OTs, as they might limit what you can do in the ground game a bit, but I happen to like this prospect.

Until about two hours ago I had completely forgotten about the NFL Draft, was just perusing CBS's list of Best Available, saw Conor McDermott as the 2nd best OT still availabe, and read:

Former TE turned OT

and wondered if the Patriots would grab him in the sixth.

This is one draft pattern that will never change.

Huh. McDermott is really intriguing raw material, but how many super-athletic-but-raw developmental tackle prospects do they have room for?

Finally a Vincent Valentine remembrance moment!
__

or is Garcia moving in?

I don't know he seems interesting.

2017 NFL Draft Profile: Conor McDermott

Love the size and length. Unusual for a guy like that to have strength issues I think. He has the ability to get much stronger one would think.

Seems like a good project player. He is just gets stronger and cleans up his technique no doubt he could play well in this league.

So the Patriots spent the draft dealing with 2 of their 3 biggest needs.

LBs now in the crosshairs, along with a depth and/or slot CB, I'm guessing.

He will probably make it to the practice squad
