How would losing HT & Butler affect our chances at the east?
Did you mean AFC or are you legitmently worried about the division lol? I haven't sweat the division since 2011.

Spikes is a free agent

Again : stay calm bud. The dumpster fire that is the AFCE - with their underwhelming QBs - are going to be beat. NE has been playing for the big game, while those three throw parades if they win more than half their games.

We cool. Just stay patient.

Not in the slightest way, AFCE doesn't have a team that can contend with us. Miami would be the closest thing there is to a good team in our division and their QB is very meh.

Even without HT and Butler, our D should be, at worse, middle of the pack. O will be elite.

If Jets offered 10m more over life of contract just up the signing bonus 4-5m

Another consideration in signing with the Jets is that there is a very strong likelihood of a coaching change--and therefore scheme change--on the D while HT is there. What would that do to his role? Would another DC value him in a different scheme?

If this is true, the decision is between NE and Pittsburgh, not the Jets.

It was already reported Pittsburgh " dropped out" of the HT sweepstakes.

Speaking of which, if I were Hightower I would ask for a clause which gives him the chance to void the deal if Belichick is no longer the coach for any reason.

Can't speak to the veracity of these guys but :

If it's Pittburgh we're against: on one hand it's bad because they're actually a decent team.

On the other hand, they don't have the resources to go all Rod Tidwell on him.
