It almost feels like he is an unofficial RFA. Like, he and the Patriots agreed he could shop around but said "give us a chance to match your offers."
That would be equivalent to Transition Tag not RFA as we get nothing (except possible comp pick) if we don't match.

Of the four must keep future FAs from a year ago ..
.. only the cheapest . and the best .. will remain

NFL Network's Mike Silver reports the Jets are "out" on free agent ILB Dont'a Hightower.

We'll see. But Silver says the Jets pulled out of the mix once Hightower left their facility. It's also what the Steelers have threatened with Hightower, who visited them on Tuesday. Expected to make a decision on Wednesday, the Patriots may be the only club left in the mix for Hightower. He's said to be seeking $12 million per year, but it doesn't sound like he's going to get it.

OK now this is just getting stupid. Why would a guy consider leaving a place he's won 2 SBs with and has been with his whole career? Especially if their offer is the best.

People don't generally enjoy moving their family and leaving friends/teammates just for the hell of it.

Does he not like Belichick or Boston?

Just due diligence. Can't blame the guy for hearing offers. As long as he comes back. ;)

These Hightower threads need to be locked as nothing is being said that hasn't been said a hundred times over. Ok, maybe just some tweets should be posted but I for one am not clicking on this thread again. Enjoy the discussion but know DH is coming back unless a Mystery (Alaska?) team emerges in the next hour, especially if it's true the NYJ pulled out (leave the $, take the cupcakes).
