NE legal FA tampering watch

Seem's like bill really want's cooks here. I still don't know how the saints want more than 32. He's a great player but 32's still good value.

They might do it for 32 alone - apparently the Pats wanted to swap picks.

Looking at it all through a wide-angle lens, and after reading up on the WRs involved - DJax, Woods, Cooks, Marshall (until today)...

Cooks makes the most sense, even though he's not a big WR.

DJax is too expensive (Cooks would be 5m/year/2 years).
Woods, who I like, would be Mitchell, part 2.

EDIT: Also, keep in mind that these guys would cost them a comp pick, too.

If the Pats are getting a #1 WR who's not an old vet looking for one last showdown (Vincent Jackson?), it's Cooks, I think.

For them, he looks like the best value.

EDIT: Ps. Dark horse if they can't land him: Pierre Garcon.

Scratch that on Garcon - apparently he's signing with the 49ers for a deal that will give him $16 million in the first year. Wow.

Ridiculous. Making close to antonio brown money. Jackson should ask for the same.

We paid amendola 6 million per year and you think 7 million per year for a WR as talanted as Jackson is too much?

Jeez some pats fans on this forum are such penny pushers

Amendola > Jackson

I saw that tweeted but it can't be accurate.

Definitely worth monitoring ..

Notes:
1. Bills have again low cap
2. Its a 5th rounder (+ doesn't count against FA comp picks equation, of course )
3. In 5th round at the moment you could possibly draft RB prospects like: Conner, Mack, McGuire...

If true I really like this. Gillislee has shown he can really play.

Thanks for the laugh. That's a delusional thought

It's ok, some people still overvalue flashy, tempermental, prima donna speedster WRs over a reliable team-player who catches everything that ever comes his way in the most key situations.

I actually do really like Jackson, and I think he would do well in NE, but I can't ever see them paying him $11m a year. If he's willing to do a 1 year deal for like $6m and then cash in next year, maybe.
Well, it's got to be the up front - maybe 3/24, 16 up front?
While it seems ludicrous, at least Shanahan is paying for a player he knows. I think there are going to be scores of players that get contracts that look idiotic. At some level if you suck, and need to add players, you have to overpay the most. Giving it to a guy you have coached before at least gives you some comfort level of what you will get.
Of course at this point Garcon will have to throw to himself.

Gillislee or Woods from the Bills, i definitely see one of those guys ending up in NE tomorrow.

And some value WRs who can put up consistent 1000 plus yard season over those who put up less than 500 a year for the last 4.

I don't like Jackson at all, but this idea that we have to turn Amendola into some kind of urban legend of clutchness because his overall production is weak, is really getting out of hand. And I love Amendola, but he is as JAGGY as a JAG gets.
